I thought I would start a new thread for those who feel "DAS BOOT" is all about naughty flags n Warshipz!........ As one who thinks outside the square .....;) ......I have gone from Thunderbirds to Uboats Torpedo boatz Destroyers to now Sailing shipz!.....all my childhood Toyz Modelz LOL...Demintia must be starting LOL!
But the Idea came over ME!.............What if???
A interactive 18th centuary dock(Generic enough to fit any Country) ......? Clipperships? so you could arive at the Docks by Train....Horse n wagon (I have the late Great Elvinors GMAX) unload then load the ship then off to another country?(SM Interactive Layout)
So my Friends Train Expertz History Expertz give me your feedback ..?
MODS DONT MOVE THIS THREAD AS I GOT THE GOODIES NEARLY READY!..........So no ppics yet just a disscussion on which way to procede?......I imagion catching a GRW Broad Guage train in the UK to the dock then a ship to the USA and then a stagecoach or a Train to the WILD Wild WEST!....just my thoughts for a interesting 2 country layout connected by sea (with the horse files you know this could = the civil war Cavalry + artilary troop trainz English Warshipz blockadeing French privateers) OH! My head LOL!..........
So what are yor Ideas on Trainz in the 1800's Like the Concept

 :D  ;) ......................................................................
Your Turn

Go for it.

I have been thinking of a route in which you would travel to different countries via airplane, but this sounds like a better way to travel and an older time period.

It sounds like a very interesting idea dreddman.

Just one thing. Sorry to be pedantic, but why has this been posted in the screenshots forum when there are no, um, screenshots to view lol :)?

Good luck with your project anyway.
Best wishes,
Padster

Steam n Sail n Horses!

Thanks Todd and Zorronov sorry not at the moment ....I spent all day repainting the Warships and finally got around to the Steam Clipper retextured it on the Clippers I have kept the polys down for all you home viewers (Dont care about the Warships) too hard!! and I want detail on them but back to this Civillian thread........
The Clippers will handle passangers and freight as well as the dock Industry and maybe some interactive wagons Stagecoach?
Still on the drawingboards and trapped in gmax ....so viewers what can we create do around this time period? I know for Australia in the early 1900's We rode on the Sheeps back we exported Wool bales via Clippers to England to turn into clothes to sell back to us ...........;)
So for me Wool Bales will be one product ? anyway feedback much appreacheated here? PIC TIME!..........

Looks great! Only thing is that that funnel is WAY too thick. But, if you just make it about half that width & you'll really have something.

Thought I would follow your great and very interesting ideas on this thread to dreddman.

Apart from the Old West people that we know of, where have you found the people used on your ships? I know I was away for 6 months so I may have missed something :D

Many thanks for all your work.

Craig

We Sailed on the morning tide out of the Harbour and past the Warships from a bygone Era! , moored in the bay under the protective Fortress cannon.........Steam was everything these dayz It had changed the world , I signed on as a sailor for passage to the Colonys...........Australia I thought Like many of my Countrymen I was Bound for Botany Bay but not in CHAINZ! A job in the Railways there was opportunity everywhere in Australia ..the open spaces far from Crouded Europe.......
It was April the 1st 1913 I noted in my diary that the next few years would be the best ever!.........................

Craig I made those people they are unfortunially about 600 polys each But you gota have a few people to set the mood! ;)

Hi,

Wow, this looks so Great!!

Please keep it up, I like the idea, and it fits into one of my slight older dreams for a route I was working on a year or so back.

And, it fits my timeline quite well too - good job!

Best wishes from a "former" great sea nation, Norway ;)

I don't know which wires are crossed in your mind dreddman but don't mess with them. I don't think anyone else could come up with the ideas you have and make them work.:D This is a fantastic idea you have and your progress looks great so far. Keep it up.:)

Three weeks out and I finally got used to the deck roll and the daily sickness had gone ......It had been fine weather up till now (shame no waves in trainz....but it is a trainz game LOL!) Early this morning we sighted the HMS Hornblower returning home after a Atlantic tour .....A safe feeling of home came over me for I thought "Britania realy did Rule the Waves"...................

Started work on the docks. These will match Vulcan's wood dock wall splines, and be industry interactive for various freight items and maybe even a small amount of passengers - for those who aren't choosy about their accommodations!
I'll probably do two rail lines down the center of the dock; one for each side, and have one ship track on each side.
Ship track is to Vulcan's standard (at ground height; 3m above water level).

I totally missed this thread!!! thanks pencil42 for showing me!

:) WOW

I think my little Tramp steamer will find a home on these docks,, and when I backdate her to 1885, humm she will be the talk of the warves as those square rig sailors clamer aboard to peak at the coal eating monster.

To all of the nautical guild, ,, I think our shipz will also be better recieved if we stay in the 1800 to 1918 era,, less political issues and also a great deal more compatable with the trainz concept. plus as a friend constantly reminds me of this era,, Britiannia rules the Seas

With those docks Pencil42 is creating,, I can see a whole new world for trainz! He is creating the link that is so needed between our two groups.(sailors and landcrabs) I enjoy sailing about my trade routes hauling the cargo from far distant shores, and they can fetch it up at the docks.
I read somewhere that Auran is working on a system to have people join on line in a large group on line and trainz about. Imagine with sailorz now included, No longer would there be a need for a Strictly euro or US or English layout,, just put a lot of water betwixt them and then watch the cargos flow, and Airships overhead (A shameless plug for my Graf Zeppelin)

I think Pencil42 is onto something really big here,, not just trainz or shipz/ but both!

Whoa Curtis did'nt realise you were this far! I sent you a update of my mistakes on the docks today..........
Beter state that Vulcan gave me (us) use of his Wooden dock spline Gmax file so we could create this Idea

Thought I better post a pic here of my end of the deal now I went more for Passangers and Baggage (Your Trunks Curtis);)
Now we can have 2! Freight and passanger/baggage I have a script error at the moment and my water track is too low (naughty me I remember now 0 height we discussed it) I made mine height adjustable just incase the user would like to incorperate into a existing layout.
Same thing in 2 different Ideas LOL!
TOLD YOU THIS WAS "STEAM N SAIL".................the pink navy has sailed into Politicaly Correct Waters.....No More Warships from ME! (except for my square rigged ones 1800's)
Who needs to catch a ship to another country on their layout?
