Odd Driver Minimap issue - has anyone else seen this? (TS2010 build 49933)

Hi Trainzers,

Whilst running a Driver session, about half an hour into the session I decided to view the minimap to check train positioning.

For some reason though, a big red block had appeared (see image below), so I could not gauge it properly.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Shane

Hi Shane,

I have never seen anything like this in all my life, this is a new one on me, and it should not be doing that, by the way you got a crazy route map going on there, lots of twists and turns.

Just wondering, does this happen when you save the game, then go out of trainz, and then go back in, is the red mark still there in mini map, if not, it could be a load map error, where trainz hasn't had enough time to load the full map. However, if it is still there in mini map, I'm just wondering could it be a faulty asset causing this red blur.

I see you have an ATI card, I am not a fan of these, as they done horrific things to my speed trees, by making them grow super fast, I needed a service pack to fix this, but afterwards I could never make it to Kings Cross from York, as all the scenery would dissappear along the route, and then the tracks, and then I would get "Trainz has encountered an error and is forced to close" message.

I wouldn't rule out your graphics card, just in case it maybe playing funny buggers with you, all graphics cards seem to have the odd tizzy fit once in a while, this maybe were you have caught yours having a funny turn. Honestly Shane, I am stumped, and I so wish I could help you further, as your a good guy on here, and I am always grateful for your valuable help.

I really hope you get this issue solved very soon.

Joe Airtime, and thank you for being on here, your help is very much appreciated, I regard you as a good friend.

Hi Joe,

Thankyou for your response.

I will have a look into the graphics card side of things.

What is really strange is that it only happens after about half an hour.

The reason it's a bit twisty there is due to how the map was originally designed (as I started with the Snow Hill Lines first, then added the Wolverhampton-Birmingham New Street portion after.

I will see if anyone else has encountered the issue.

Shane

P.S. Not long after that one happened, another one appeared to the left of it about 10 minutes later.

I am double-checking that, but I've found something else interesting.

At the bottom-left of the block, it appears that a consist has derailed in the middle of nowhere.

Shane

it actually appears to be a derailed consist to me. its the same shape and color of a derailed locomotive. does your trackwork actually look like that? that might be one of the problems here if that isnt a corruption bug because it looks absolutely terrible on the portion of the map you can see.

I'm in the process of cleaning up that area of the line, as it's been subject to 'engineering works'. Something that has baffled me though is that if I pause the game and move out of the affected area (using the minimap) to a certain extent then return to the affected area, the red part disappears.

Shane

That's true. I normally only ask questions for things that definitely should not be happening in Trainz - most of the time, I answer questions.

Shane

well id say it probably has to do with removing track and the resulting crazy trackwork probably derailing something that you might not even know is there.

For some odd reason, the issue seems to have stopped temporarily.

The 'crazy trackwork' is not actually connected to anything at the moment.

Shane

Have a good look, it might be Dave Snow's cool Trackmobile running around on those crazytracks with cascaderailroad in the cab...:D

I have never seen anything like that Shane. Looks like its bleeding all over your route. I have a nvidia graphics card if that means anything.

Luckily, it was not the whole route, but it was a fair portion.

It appears to have temporarily subsided now, and I believe it may have been due to a weird derailment issue.

Shane

Hi Shane I have this problem too not very often but sometimes. What it is, is a consist has derailed somewhere, leaving the regular derailed "Train" on the map view but also adding the ig one on the screen. I have no idea what causes this but it usually happens when the train comes off the edge of the route or ends on twisted in some way (EX. upside down tilted on one side as if hopping on one foot). As far as I know there is no fix or certian tings that caause it but this is what it seems to be from my own experience. I hope this helps you.

Ben
