OBS Studio stuck recording Trainz on its "starting Trainz" screen when Trainz is no longer on the starting screen

I want to record Trainz videos in OBS Studio, but it is stuck on the "starting trainz" screen when Trainz has already moved past the screen

Try starting Trainz first. Once started and you are at the main menu routes and sessions screen, start OBS. OBS can get weird sometimes. It's been about 3 years since I used it, I'm guessing this might help.
