Objects disappear behind transparent textures

Maybe this is just the nature of the software, and so unavoidable, but I find that objects are disappeared when they are behind another object with transparent parts. For example, (some) trees are two flat, rectangular images, but most of the image is transparent, so you can see the landscape beyond. However objects do not appear behind it.

Anyone know a fix?

TS2009 SP4, GeForce GT430, Win7 64bit by the way

G'Day F2Andy,
I was having that same issue with TS09 untill I patched with SP4 which fixed that issue, strange as you seem to have SP4? My build number is 44653.

If memory serves me correctly, I think you also have to configure the display for Antialias Mode 2.
From Launcher, go to Options, then Display Settings.

G'Day F2Andy,
That patch makes a big difference Just be careful you don't shut down your PC straight after you close the game as taddamon still works for a minute or so after colsing the game.

Hello everybody! I am working on a loco with some transparent glasses inside...and I am having the problem reported in this thread! I currently have TS 2010 build 49933.... Does anybody know if there is some way to correct the problem?

That may be a different issue, as the view outside from an interior may be limited.

I don't think it is a problem related to interior view... I imported the model as a "scenery" mesh, just to make tests while texturing: where I have a transparent texture, when looking through it, textured objects behind it disappear! I also tried updating TS2010 to SP4 (build 49938, obtained manually updating 44088 -> 46170 and then 46170 -> 49938!) but nothing changed.

Hello,

This has happened to me, but I am not speculating that it is your issue --- However, I've figured that I tell you because one never knows!!!

I have created dozens of Bio-Domes for Marsz, and when my beta-testers run these through variations of trainz, for example Trainz 2010 they cannot see what's inside the dome, where as in Trainz 12 they do --- sometimes it is in reverse, where as we see the contents inside the domes in Tz10 and not in Tz12 --- This has happened when I use double layer widows ... when I ise a plane layer it does not happens but then it looks like there's no window from the inside out!

Anyhow, hope in made sense!!!
Good Luck
Ish

It makes sense at all! Indeed my glasses too are all double layered!! I also tried setting the material as 2-sided, so that every layer should be visible from both sides, but it didn't resolve the problem, it only made the glass look worse, because of double crossed reflections :(
I will have to try with one layer glasses, maybe with 2-sided material so that it doesn't look like there is no glass from one side.

Do someone have any other ideas?

Hey thanks martinvk ! The anti aliasing mode 2 thing restored my telegraph wires and the compatibility mode restored my trees! You're the man.

It seems that i solved the problem, it was due to the fact that I exported transparent objects from 3ds MAX to Trainz into a single IM mesh file... Instead, when exporting transparent objects as separate IM files, they are rendered correctly!!
