Forgive me for asking, you've probably heard this question many times. Where can you download this wellington route? Can't find anything like it on the download station.

Hi Tranzrail709, welcome to the forums. Unfortunately it's a private route. I've never looked myself, but I believe there are other Wellington routes available, or becoming available on the DLS.

Some past (ignoring the recent infrastructure in places) and present action now. A DA class departs Wellington for the Wairarapa.

Hi Guys, I'd like to make a prototypical route in trainz 2010, anyone here have any advice on how to make prototypical routes? particularly when it comes to track laying.

Hi Tranzrail709,

there a few good resources on-line that should be able to help. The tool I've used for my latest route is TransDEM (Trainz edition). It's payware, but does a great job at creating realistic, relatively accurate landscapes based on real-world data. It can also place tracks for you as well (at least the mainlines). Plus it can create tiles using images from Google Earth / Google Maps / (insert mapping programme here) which you can use to help place buildings, trees, roads, etc.

In terms of difficulty to use, I spent a few nights working through a tutorial provided with the software, and then had two or three goes at making the route I wanted (until I was happy). Since then, I've been slowly (between family life / work & study) been "scenic-ing" the line, little by little.

Their are probably several other ways to go about it but this has worked for me.

For some other hints and tips their is a page on WikiBooks around Trainz hints and tips. It's all user-sourced feedback and pretty handy (though admittedly the page could do with a tidy up in some sections)

A couple of other hints:
1) start small - I'm working on the Waitara Branch which is only ~7km long but it's still taken a while to get it feeling 'right'
2) save often, and keep backups. I suggest each day before you start working on it, re-save your route build with a different file name, so if something goes wrong it's only that days work you risk losing. You can always delete old versions once you are happy that you don't need them (I normally keep 2-3 'previous versions' but opinions on how many to keep may vary) but nothing as disheartening as losing 3 months worth of work due to a faulty file save!
3) try and use a minimum number of assets if possible (I'm pretty bad at doing this). This will help keep your route more responsive, especially when driving a vehicle around a sharp curve!

People on these forums are generally pretty helpful too if you have specific issues you need help with.

Hope that is of some help and best of luck!

DXR8022 was released back into traffic tonight in the Kiwirail livery. We see the loco preparing to depart Wellington on train 210 to Auckland

Those in charge of loading the wagons have got their sums severely wrong and by this point I have realised that we will need to drop some wagons off at Porirua to have any chance of making it to Pukerua Bay (I didn't load any other locos on the map before I started, so bankers weren't an option today).

Does anyone have any NZ coaches that they could put on the DLS? None of the current ones work on my version of the game (TS2010Mac)

Hi Tranzrail,

I think there is more than one version of Wellington being worked on. One that I think is available is by fender849 but lots of the scenery is payware from sirgibby's site, Trainzone http://www.trainzone.co.nz/download.htm You will need the nature series 1 & 2 for this route.
mmmmm. I can't find fender 849's one now but have a look on sirgibby's site for it too.

Cheers,
Bill69

I have just finished downloading all of the new patches for 2012 and they have stuffed all on sirgibbys scenery and nature seriys stuff of my computer
so now what?

and its a big thank you to auran for doing this

Sneak shot - The KiwiRail AK set

Here is a sneak preview of the AK set. The models are presently away at the beta testers, but should be due for release towards the end of this month. A payware announcement will be made then.($10.00 posted to you on C.D. within N.Z.) Cheers, Fender :)

:udrool: Top shelf as always Fender. Would there be any chance of slightly bending the rules and getting a copy over here (for a suitable fee, of course) once released??? Perhaps they could be sent on this train...
