NYCTA! pics!

Well, it's about time for me to head out. Yes, I'm leaving.

Oh, well, not for good, I'm just going on hiatus for a moment. In the meantime, the projects that this post resides in, or requires my input will be halted until an indefinite date. As much as it pains me to put the projects on halt just as they were making major progress, I have no choice.

For those reading this post and begin to go “oh great, development stopped again” I suggest you step away from the computer screen and find yourself a hobby, or a book, because I do have a personal life. A handful of people know what I’m going to be doing from now, but for the others, you just have to sit tight, and use the latest development pictures as eye candy.

Well, that’s pretty much it. Keep doing what you’re doing, and I’ll be back before you know it. In the meantime, ExpressLine3Train and acelejalde will keep you updated on the status of these projects.

Well have fun B see ya when you return:cool:

On that note a Manhattan bound (A) leaves Aqueduct

No problem.:) Even though trainz can be a fun and addicting hobby, there is more to life than just trainz. See ya on the forums soon.:)

Very good stuff D! It's nice to see you having different shots of different parts of the system. Are you working on the entire system at once, or do you have separate routes that you'll merge together soon? Maybe we should have a race to see who finishes first, hahahah :hehe: Nahhh. Your work is good!

@Malikthr: I will be in charge of handling things in BStyles' absence, lest there be any confusion.

That will never load if such a thing was done:hehe:

Nah I was on Bs A line. My 3 train is on hold right now, as im waiting for others to finish the stations

My route will encompass the entire subway system, so let's pray it loads. I am going to import the stations into CM tonight, and see if they work. Keep your fingers crossed.

NYCTA Subway Stations Completed

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on my progress with my share of the mega NYCTA route-building package.

I have completed all of the NYCTA subway station configurations, committed them to Trainz, and have tested them all out. They are looking fabulous! I will continue to work out any bugs I spot, so that they'll be damn-near flawless when you all see them. It's late now, so I will post pictures soon.

Because of the scope of replacing all of the current system I had (those who have been following my progress know how far I've come) is very difficult, I am debating rebuilding a fresh new route encompassing all of my material, so far. I only say this because it's difficult to replace static objects (Jeff's stations), with objects and splines, have to measure it all out a hundredfold, then relay track--I only relaid TWO stations, and having to rotate everything and get it right--total headache! :o So, I'll just go for a fresh rebuild.

Keep your eyes posted for a media-fire link within the next week. And remember, these are only the subway stations. BStyles is on hiatus for the rest of the season, and I will not disrespect him by releasing my own EL stations when he said he is committed to the project, so please don't ask. I will think about possibly making at-grade stations, if I get enough support for it.

Thanks again for sticking with me throughout this project. I know these stations have been in the works for a hell of a long time, and it feels good to have them finished.

Eye Candy

Thought I would tease a few eye-candy pictures of my NYCTA content, recently finished. Subway stations WILL be released in the future--the tunnels are based off designs from ExpressLine3Train and BStyles, respectively. The ones I made in-game will not be publicly released for two reasons: one, the designs aren't mine, and despite my friendships with the other two developers, I'm not going to disrespect them. Secondly, EL3T has made a LOT of tunnels, which are in BStyles' hands currently for fine tuning, so you'll get a hell of a lot more choices/configurations when his pack comes out. Mine were just thrown together because I wanted to get back into route building and was too impatient :hehe:

Enjoy the pics!

P.S: station objects such as maps, benches, garbage cans and exits/stairs will be released along with the subway stations. As you can tell, I haven't loaded them in game yet, which is why the platforms look bare. They were not included in the splines because of requests that it'd take away from the unique feel of each station by having them always evenly spaced apart. I didn't agree at first, but now I do!

I can't wait until those subway items are released. They look just like their real life counterparts. I just finished the modelling a part of the Port Jervis line. I am currently modelling most of the tri state area in trainz 2009. Just finished the Harlem and 125th street station with the help of google earth, google maps, and 1km maps scaled to 1024x1024. I hope to include LIRR, MTA subway, Oak point line, NJ transit, Amtrak, Metro North, P&W, CSX, and CP.

Announcements!!

Thanks to Malikthr, ThePandaTrain and Ish6 for the kind words.

Major breakthrough! I have FINALLY figured out how to use the tag 'bridge' and use the initiator/terminator tags properly for my subway stations. Pretty much the idea is the same as rail or road bridges, the initiator and terminator pieces will be the ends of the stations with the walls and the spline will be the station length. So, for you builders (I put myself in your shoes), it is a major PITA to have to rotate objects right? to get them to fit correctly and what not. Well, now for my subway stations (All versions except the 6T versions, since anything prior to TS12 cannot handle splines of more than 5T), all you have to do is click and drag, and boom---you have a station, complete with end pieces already there. So, consider it an upgrade on Magicland's originals. All of the stations will be this way except the 6T versions. Now, seeing as there are only 3 six track stations in the system, and only ONE of them lays at a diagonal angle (DeKalb), I'm sure placing them won't be an issue.

This will definitely speed up the building process so you won't have to waste too much time laying out stations. The only thing you'll still have to do is measure out the 480 feet (BMT Eastern), 175 meters (IRT) or 200 meters (Division B) for the station lengths. Unfortunately, I can't do ALL the work for you :hehe:

I will have some screenshots by Tuesday evening. I'm editing the pieces in 3dsmax right now, and should have them in-game by the end of the night.

P.S. I have decided to make outdoor stations, like the Dyre Line, and the Sea Beach/Brighton lines. I'm still iffy on the EL stations--I will make my own, but releasing them is a matter of some debate. I will have to ask BStyles, but he is on hiatus until January.

Now that is what I wanted to hear ! Sounds much easier to build a route with those stations and much quicker as well ! Well Done !

Why not have a talk with BStyles about that ? I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Or at least release it to those who ask you directly ?

As you know BStyles and I are good friends, and converse regularly outside of the forums about projects. When he said hiatus, he really meant hiatus, as I haven't heard from him since he left, and I'm not going to bother him at the moment. However, if another month or so goes by, and he doesn't "poke his head in the door" to see how things are going, then I may make a decision on whether or not to release EL stations. Now mind you, these will be my own creations---I won't be taking his designs and just slapping my name on them.

Now, everything is ready for import into Trainz...so the moment of truth is upon is....
