NYC subway Route

Stunning! Awesome! Great job! It is really looking like a stellar route so far!

You are doing what only one other person has attempted to do since the creation of Trainz Railroad Simulator. The NYC Subway System is the biggest subway system in the world, and when you finish that layout you would have it's computerized twin. It's one big project. I attempted to build that from scratch... gave up after a day. I would be happy to operate that layout, so much so that I'd buy Trainz 2010 just to drive it.

Thanks for the kind words! It's stuff like this that keeps me motivated!

To all the nitpickers that I know will eventually catch it: I know that I have colored bullets instead of the dot-matrix LED for the R32s. I did these custom rollsigns last year before I knew how to even begin to do custom content. So, eventually I will make dot-matrix letters for my signs.

EL Stations

Just started work on elevated stations to use for my NYCTA route. BStyles has been away for awhile, so I've taken it upon myself to build these stations with textures he has given me. The following is a list of the stations going to be made. Just to let everyone know, the Brighton line is the only line that will have "customized" elevated stations. The rest of the el lines will use this package of stations, but there will be different objects (exits, etc) that you can swap in and out for a different look. I just felt it was too much to model several el stations each for Astoria, Flushing, West End, Culver, Pelham, Jerome, Broadway Bronx, Jamaica, Myrtle, Rockaways, Livonia, etc etc. Too much work, and who wants to sift through 30+ stations when something under a dozen will do?

So here's the list:

1 Track El
2T Island/2T Side/2T Double Side (for the terminals on the (1)(2)(4)(5)(6))
3T Island/3T Side/3T Island 2--for (7) Mets/Willets Point
4T Island/4T Side--for (7) 111 St.

Objects (so far):
Platform Exit (at the ends, seen on the (7) line)
Mid-Platform Exit
New Subway Maps
New Exit signs with a down arrow

The garbage cans and benches from the subway set can be used here.

Any suggestions/comments are welcome.

Not related to the El stations per se, but I would really like to see the JFK AirTrain done as well as that's part of the NYCTA.

For those of you who don't know the area, AirTrain is a rail that circles around JFK's terminals, with stops at Teminals 1, 2/3, 4-International, 5/6, 7, and 8. There's a spur that connects with Sutphin Blvd (E)(J)(Z)(LIRR: Jamaica) and another spur that goes to Howard Beach (A). For a front-car view, I recommend you start here.

@acelejalde - you're welcome, the subway stations are awesome! i'd love to see the photos of the elevated stations when you're ready.

Technically, the JFK AirTrain is not part of the NYCTA. That is owned and operated by the Port Authority of NY & NJ. Can it possibly be included? Well, that's up to acelejalde. Would it be easy to add? Probably not, because he'd have to add scenery to an area, which without the JFK AirTrain, wouldn't need scenery.

I would be up to the challenge for sure. Gives me an excuse to utilize the roads/freeways I am currently working on. I just have to make sure that I get the Archer Av Subway and Cross Bay Blvd corridor to JFK aligned correctly otherwise the AirTrain will be all messed up.

Any recommendations from the DLS for tram-like vehicles to use for the AirTrain?

Ace!

I love what you're doing with this, I am always excited to see your screenshots and your progress.

Thanks! I recently had to resize all of my textures in my NYCTA folder to powers of two, since most of them are from BVE via BStyles. The EL stations should be done within the next day or two and I will post screenshots.

Oh, and does anyone have any requests for photos from around the system? I'd be willing to take pics and post them here! :D

These are two missing dependencies for the Wessex Electric Nutter:

Unknown Location: <kuid:30051:100149>
Unknown Location: <kuid:67906:55003>

Could you identify and possibly locate these?

I tried the DLS and they weren't there. I opened up the config file, and the second KUID is the interior. I will send him a PM and ask him to furnish the dependencies, unless Eric has them in CDP format?

Ah right, I've dealt with that. One is a payware interior and the other I don't remember. Neither are important, so you can delete them (maybe Wessex will finish his own in the future?). If you get rid of those they are fine, sorry about that...I forgot
Eric :)

I'm afraid not my friend. One is a payware British train (the interior) and the other I don't remember. But they're not important, according to Wessex, and it will work fine if you just delete them ;)

Also, just to help out:

Not only do you have to delete the referenced kuid's in the kuid-table, but also delete the entire line starting with "interior" and "enginesound", as those are also referenced kuids, otherwise you'll still get flagged in CM for missing dependencies.

EL Pics

Just some eye candy of the recently completed NYCTA EL stations:

NYCTAEL.jpg

1T and 2T are on the top row, 3T on the middle, and 4T on the bottom. I know the ends look a little short, I'm in the process of lengthening them from 5m to 10m long as we speak!

Enjoy!

P.S. Like everything else, gotta test it on my route--so far no kinks, so no definite release date yet, BUT---I will promise that you will not have to wait six months like with the subway stations. I'm starting to get a hang of this station building stuff :p

25 October Progress Update

Here is the current progress map--Brighton is pretty much finished, Fulton St line is done (the remaining portion is the Pitkin/Liberty St line), and Flushing and Jamaica are getting close to the end.

Because of measurement anomalies in my route, I am rebuilding all of Downtown Brooklyn and the 4 Av line, mainly because my (A) line doesn't meet up with the (J)(L)(Z) at East NY like it's supposed to. It shouldn't be that bad to be honest.

Also, replacing the EL stations on my route with my own newly created ones--so far only Flushing needs them, as I completed Jamaica yesterday.

Lastly, is anyone else getting an error with Jeff Morris updated 'bridge01' spline (aka the Manhattan Bridge). I got his 'bridge02' update (WillyB) just fine, but the MannyB is having an ! in CM. These are place-holders until I finish my WillyB and ExpressLine3Train finishes his Manhattan Bridge.

Does my bridge01 spline have yellow or red "!"? If it's yellow, it's because TRS2009 and TRS2010 don't support splines with three or more tracks. TS2012 is the ONLY version of Trainz that supports splines with six or more tracks.

Errors

Your previous bridge01 spline worked fine. I know that TS12 is the only one that can handle 6+ track splines. So far, I've done well creating up to 5 track splines.

It shows up with a red !, and the following two errors:

Error: Incorrect number of values for the tag 'trackoffsets', expected 2 values, found 4.
Error: Incorrect number of values for the tag 'trackdirections', expected 2 values, found 4.

By the way, the trainz-build in the config for this asset is 2.9, so it should work fine in TS10.
