Northern Arizona Route

Thanks for the comments and interest in this route. I’ve been away from Trainz for a few months. Next week I should be getting my new computer. The drives, graphics and processor speed should be awesome compared to what I’ve had. I’m hoping to be re-inspired to continue working on this route.
Here’s another shot from where I left off in November.

These shots are from my new computer. The graphics and performance are significantly better! I took a drive through the entire route yesterday and was amazed at how much of an improvement it was over my old system. I’m also looking forward to the new version of TS Mac, hopefully in the next few months. Anyway as I said before, having a much better system including a bigger display, has got me inspired to keep working on this route.

Honestly, I cannot tell the difference in graphics quality between your old and new computers judging from the screenshots posted. They look equally amazing.

Hahaha, same here. Gordon you continue to impress!

On the other hand Deane, the improvements could be aspects that are not immediately apparent in a screenshot like say framerates and higher resolution.

Awesome Gordon. Simply awesome.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the comment.

Thanks Deane, I’ve noticed many details that have improved, although not so apparent in just a few screenshots. As Nicky pointed out, my framerate and resolution are much better. My old computer had a good video card but this one (Nvidia GeForce GXT 780M with 4GB V-ram) has made quite a difference. I used to get artifacts in the distance on areas that were flat or sometimes on the edges of hills. It was more noticeable on this desert route because of the sparse vegetation. None of those issues exist now. Overall I am very pleased with my new set-up.

Gordan: Very,Very nice..Everything looks Great..WOW..
Thanks Bob.

Thanks Nicky, Hopefully I can put up some videos from this route sometime soon.

GNdome55, I am so glad to hear how this route is coming along. These screenshots are so real :). I am curious GNdome55, what is your method of the route building?

Thanks malikrthr, I’m not sure what you mean by method. I’d be happy to answer if you could be a little more specific in your question.

Gordon, I'm serious and sincere when I say that you should consider putting your route in T2. They (the dev guys) are looking for talented route builders who already have amazing routes under construction.

Cheerio,
Nicholas

My apologies on not being too clear. What I mean is, the order in which you arrange things in the surveyor. For example, first, I lay tracks down, then texture the baseboards, and then lay down some scenery. I know this may not really be clear enough but I really want to know how do you build your awesome routes. I'd like to make mine look good and breathtaking like yours. The texturing, scenery and railway action here is superb. How do know or choose which scenery and texture objects to use because in the surveyor, for me there are thousands of scenery objects to choose from and hundreds of textures to choose from and knowing which one is right is a bit of a challenge. I narrow down my searches by using the rating system in surveyor but there is still so much to choose from.

Stunning work as always Gordon,I feel like I gotta look over me shoulder for rattle snakes:p

Andrew.
Thanks Andrew, a 3D Western Diamondback rattlesnake would be a great asset to add to a few areas on this route.

Cheerio,
Nicholas[/QUOTE]Nicholas, I would be very interested in being part of that. What I’m waiting for now is the new TS Mac to be released. I’m hoping Mac users will finally be able to export cdps. As it is now, the work around for a TS Mac user to share route files would be a pain.

malikrthr, I think froobie’s link to dermmy’s check rail site is very good. Andy’s route building was a big inspiration to me when started. As far as choosing from the large number objects and textures, it’s just a matter of trial and error. We have so much amazing content from talented creators (freeware and payware) to choose from. When I find something that fits in with the look of the surrounding area I’ll use it. Quality and color are important to me. I want this route to be a realistic impression of the prototype. I’m ok with my Interpretation not being spot on accurate. One thing I do that might help you, keep groups of vegetation, objects, textures that you like or might want to try off to the side on your route. I’ll copy and paste from different groups as I work on new areas.

If this route ever gets released. I am installing Trainz again just to run the route....Keep up the great work on the route....
Thanks, although I feel bad that you don’t keep Trainz installed on your computer. I’m hoping changes in the soon to be released TS Mac version will allow me to export. I hate to say this again but this route has a long way to go.
