No path to selected destination

I have been adding some DMU's to an existing route in Surveyor most trains work but eventually every thing comes to stop due to two errors

1. No path to selected route
and
2. Unable to plot route - Juction is missing lever

I am using Trainz 2009 and finding it difficult to find help in the 2006 manual which has been very helpful until now. can anyone help please.
John

The answer is right there in 2. Trainz can't plot the route as it can't move the switch.
You'll need to trace the path in Surveyor to find the missing switch lever, then add it.

You need to trace your route very carefully either in Surveyor by following the track, or by driving a train yourself. Once you "happen" upon the missing lever, your train will either derail, or you'll see it beforehand and be able to go back into Surveyor to fix it.

Also, a badly placed lever counts as a missing lever. In this case it will be all red, not red and green. Just slide it along to the right place and it will become green again. This can happen when spline points are moved and the track is "stretched".

Yup, forgot about those too. I've been pretty lucky with those but they do happen. What's even worse is when they jump because you've added in a spline point so there's no lever where it should be and a lever somewhere else down the line where a spur shouldn't even be.

Many thanks for all your replies, I have managed to find the offending junction although I cant see what is wrong with it, if I drive the train over the points I can then continue schedule and all works fine.
another problem I have is, trains will not stop at a new station or trackmarks I have added to the route. any help much appreciated.
John

It's missing a switch lever according to the error you posted. Sure you can drive over it, but Trainz can't determine the position of the points, so therefore, can't plot the route. Add one.
Regarding the trains not stopping, we need more information, not just generalized statements. What train, what station, does it eventually stop, or just blow right by, etc.?

You also get this error if there is a lever placed without a junction. Sometime when a lever moves after placing a spline point you might place another one when the original is somewhere down the track. They dont show up very well and need to be slowly searched out.

Ok thanks to this great forum I have been able to sort out both problems with the help of you guys.
I found a junction without points and a badly placed one which could have been moved by myself in error and the trains now complete there schedule.
Trains failing to stop at station was cured by a trackmark problem.
Thanks to all those who replied I can see this is going to be a vast learning curve!

Now that the problem has been solved, one way to avoid it in the future is to complete all trackwork before adding trackside objects (levers being one of them). Searching for moved levers proved to be annoying and time consuming.

Cheerio,
Nicholas.

........another thing that sometimes happens is that track breaks apart at SP2 passenger enabled stations or Multiple Industry Tracks when two routes are merged, or when a layout is imported into an upgraded version of Trainz.

I did the sad thing and modified Ultimate British Rail 21 to SP2 and converted all the junctions to "Invisible Levers" because I hate to see all those unrealistic red levers popping up all over the place. Certainly in the UK, hand operated points (turnouts) were only ever used at sidings used very occasionally or on catch points!

Unfortunately, both when I upgraded to TC3 and TRS2009, all the Invisible Levers disappeared and I have spent a couple of hours re-siting them all again!

I'm glad you found your problem. These can be a pain if there are a lot of junctions to go through.

Another place to check is at level crossings. Sometimes when we put them in place, we forget to connect the track on to them. This will cause the same message.

@sterrett,

Being in the US, we tend to use many manually thrown switches particularly in rail yards and in remote places where the industries are located off the mainline and are not served on a daily basis.

I use the small yard switch stands for the yards, the Tall Switch stand for mainline sidings, and motorized point motors for the mainline. I too don't like the look of the giant red levers sticking out of the grownd.

Another junction/point lever problem. If you use the facility in TS2010 for automatic junction placing and add track in error and delete track it leaves a junction lever behind(all red) this also causes the not able to plot route problem.
Many thanks to all you guys out there who answer so many newbie problems
