Hi all,

I am experimenting with a few boards using an elevated track that gradually runs out onto level ground.
I might just finish with portals, not sure yet.

Here are a few shots...

Sorry this is an imageshack hosting and it's difficult now to get them up easily.

and the other end

MPD

I eventually gave up trying to insert via photobucket, somewhere along the route images were getting mixed up. So I saved the 2 to imageshack. But now this seems so confusing and all I could eventually manage after trying every option available was the small icons. Click on those and they enlarge.

Thanks to photobucket.

I've been using ImageShack for quite awhile, Angelah. After uploading the pic, click on the little blue 'I' button. Then click in that little box to close it up then highlight that first option and copy it so you can paste it here. That's the one for a full pic and not the thumbnail.

Oh, btw, you're pretty good at this route building stuff, though... LOL

Not sure

Go for it Angela. Looks good, when do expect it to be available on the DLS.

Regards (from one oldie to another)
Ian

Hello,
Not sure about the release for 2 reasons.
First I am having great difficulty getting my uploads to appear on the DS even with the superb attentions of Alan Yeomans. Nobody seem to know why.... So there's not a lot of point sending anything up right now.
Secondly this was just an experiment, a general fiddle about to see what would come out of it but it grew - like Topsy! So I am not sure whether to go on past the boards I have now or juts tag a portal at the end of each track and let people add their own boards?

Any suggestions are welcome.

God bless you all,

Angela

Steamdrivre

Thanks to that man, a great help and for spending time making those little diagrams.
I wondered what that top button did, I have always used to second one down...
I'll give it a whizz....

God bless and thanks for your time

It looks good, it just seems the terminus is a bit big to end up only going to two tracks. It's a good experiment though, it can get quite annoying doing elevated track, especially as it means that you have to make areas fairly content-intensive as you can't hide things behind trees. This I know from building Putney in London where from the district line, you can see the whole of it but keeping framerates down is impossible without giving the impression that everyone lives in an identical house!!!

Elevated

Hello glbotu,
As you rightly point out, the trouble with an elevated route is all the scenery has to be put in ine terrible detail, you can see all of it from the higher viewpoint, and naturally this seriously effects frame rates. I get stutter and I have a fast PC, but that is will all the sliders on full power, I could reduce detail and draw distances and put in daytime fog which would (a) make it more realistic and (b) improve the running speed a lot.

Some have asked about it going onto the DS? Not sure about that. This was just an experiment (some exeriment!) to see how I got on with elevating track and how well the infrastructure worked with it. Pretty well, as you can see. The other problem is that I have two routes already sent up a fair while ago and they are not coming on stream and Alan Yeomans doesn't seem to be able to work out why. These are the two large Blackheath Downs routes. I haven't heard a peep out of him for a while now either so maybe they have just given up on them... I understand I am not the only one with problems but it is a bit frustrating for all of us because they took quite a while to produce, a lot of time and effort.
Hence this one was a 'fun job' that wasn't meant to be sent to the clutches of Auran, it won't show up anyway I expect judging on what's happening at the moment. I'll need to think about it.

Thanks for posting.

God bless,

Angela

Not wide enough

I think you are right, going to 2 reacks straight away is too constricting and doesn't look right. I shall change that, but it means a major rebuild on one side or the other!

At present I am working on a new route called Avalon so those alterations will have to wait. Again a multi level and quite the opposite, this time I have too many tracks at the main station and it slows my PC - and I have a fast machine....
I will have to reduce the MPD which I think is most likely the problem, it huge.

There are some piccies on a thread recently, oh yes, the UK Screenshots.

Station

Hi angela a nice route you have got there, can i just ask what terminus station that is?

Thank You Josh:wave:

Hello Josh,
It's a made-up one using the MS platform splines and 6 Verriere2 roofs, kuid 119452:29:2
I won't be enlarging the station, just the access tracks. And having said 'just', that means an awful lot of work!
It only began life as an experiment and I got carried away... well, you do once you get your head inside the Trainz program, it's like that - addictive....

God bless,

Angela
