Hi metalfare
Have you re-installed according to this thread: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=80
A typical symptom is "missing drivers"!! You have to install "to the letter"!!

As Chris states - "to the letter"
Last night I removed TRS 2006 (too much clutter from too many downloads!).
The re-install took about 1 hour (lots of waiting for SP1), but at the end of that I had everything working
It's quite easy to forget to a)turn off the virus checker, and b) copy the SP1 to hard disc....
