Night time settings and computer crash

TS 12 is working perfectly..........until night time cuts in! Once normal daytime operations end and night draws in, Trainz program crashes. I'm happy to give brief computer details now - windows 7 - direct x - dual core i3- intel HD graphics 3000 card -and more if necessary, but any initial thoughts as what could be going wrong please?
John :(

Two things:

1.The night-time issue is known, and is caused by faulty headlight/headlight scripts.
2.Your graphics card is not good enough to run Trainz correctly, as it does not support OpenGL.

It also helps to have 3GB of RAM or more. I've got 4 gigabytes in my laptop, upgraded from a 1GB RAM card, (Seriously, compaq, wtf? Vista needs more RAM to run smoothly!)

Thanks Shane and Steamdemon.
Shane - will the night time issue ever be addressed - a build update for instance? Yes I have noticed my graphics card does not support OpenGL. Direct X is just about OK.

Edit the session and add the quick drive v2 rule , when in driver and it's getting near dark open it and highlight the environment tab, pull the time back xx hours. Not a solution but it stops any crashing.

As long as you are running the latest patch for your version you should be OK (for TS12, this depends on where you got it from).

In some cases though, trying out different engines may help pinpoint the issue.

Any idea which engines ? I've used all kinds and never had any problems.

The problem can be caused by many factors, but it's frequently faulty headlight scripts that cause the issue.

The older versions of the BR Class 321 and BR Class 390 trains did have the issue, for example.
