Hi guys, i am new here to trainz & would like some help with this very interesting game so help would be gladly appreciated.

Ok so i downloaded the trainz 2010 engineers edition, screwed around for abit & enjoyed it alot but soon realised something....... now this might sound stupid but like the title says i am total noob to this game. :p

Apart from the tutorials & routes is there no like premade maps i can drive?

I also downloaded the Murchison 2 add on but are really confused cause nothing changed i mean i thought ok if i go to routes there will be new content that i can play but it seems like the same ones as in engineers edition. Or is this game purely for ppl to just design their own routes cause to be perfectly honest i want to drive diff trains & routes but cant be bothered to make my own for now at least.

Pls some newbie advice would be great

Hello, and welcome to the world of trainz  .

The Murchison 2 is a payware. You may af course be aware of that, but I thought I would mention it, just to be sure :).

When you go to routes, make sure to uncheck the yellow star in the top left corner. This will bring up any route that is not premarked as favourites.

There are unfortunately quite a few routes without any useable sessions. You could probably find some in your Content Manager, but not many enough (which is why there is an official contest going on to encourage session making).

I hope that helps a little :).

Hi All
I am new to the trainz world:) . I have made my own map and I have a few questions on how to get things to work, I have already got a train working on its own track and found it quite easy to do. But now I have run into a problem and need some help in getting multiple trains working on a single route. I have added a number of siginals on a route to allow mutiple trains to run, but how do I automatically manipulate the switches so a train can pass through them with out colliding with another train or derail itself because the signals were not in the correct position. Is this to do with scripting or is this something to do with the driver rules. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

Mmmm.... sounds like a signals problem to me. In Trainz you normally control one train and all the other runs by AI (Artificial Intelligence) and provided the signals are placed in the right places there should be no problem.
In general you will need a signal at the Y side of a point (switch) to protect it and also some spaced along tracks to keep trains 'in section'. Another at the exit of a station and one place some way before a station to prevent collisions.
That's a pretty basic description but should stop trains colliding with each other.
Scripting on signals is pretty good so I don't think it would be that. Just think about where you are getting collisions and try to sort out that area, then move on to the next and so on.

tks olpe for your reply, i feel very stupid know that i know that the click of 1 button opened up the routes (inlc. the murchison 2 routes :hehe:) Anyway again i need some help...... is there any place for some usefull guides or walkthroughs on the murchison routes as they are quite confusing, not hard i mean the standard guide is just not enough information. You guys are the pro's here so any links or advice on how i can get some more info on the missions would be great.

Cheers

Also if you go to the Download Station ( DLS ) there are over 370 sessions available to drive that are made for the user to follow an assigned task.

To see them all click on the download station tab. Then on the left hand side is a search area. have this open and hit the Plus under the line that says Location Download Station.

Another line should open below. In the first box get the Category pick to show and then in the second box get the pick session to show. A list will appear that shows you all of the sessions available to you.

Don't worry about that. That is probably the most common problem for Trainz 2010 that is mentioned on the forum, so you are not the only one... ;)

As for the rest, I have no experience with Murchison, so I can't help you there.

NICKEL: Very few of those sessions are for the builtin routes, unfortunately.

I have no interest in "sessions". Perhaps because I come at Trainz from model ralroading. Give me a good layout and I will supply the rolling stock and operate as I wish.
All of my layouts (on the DLS) are just that, layouts.

I would suggest playing around, getting used to locos and consists, and the way that Trainz runs.

Often there is help with buttons in Trainz (click on the ? at the top right then the button)

There are a huge numer of Trainzers ere to help you with most topics so hae a play then come back wit specifics it a ery time consuming and enjoyable hobby !!
