Newbie with two questions

Hello, all...

I've been playing around last few days with trying to learn how to build a route and couple things have come up.

1. I can't seem to figure out a way to make a long, even grade with the terrain tools. There must be a way because I have seen examples of this sort of thing both in youtube vids and some of the included routes. What am I missing? Is there a quick and easy procedure, or does one just have to fiddle with the tools over a long distance?

2. Is there a way to scale objects placed in a route? Example: the smelting plant found in the Kickstarter route is grossly oversized, and I thought it should be a cinch to resize it down a bit, but there doesn't seem to be a tool that will scale an object in a scenery. I'm baffled. :)

If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you very much.

Lay down some track. Raise one end to the height required, and then raise the terrain to the track with the smooth spline tool (both under Advanced). Repeat alongside for a wider slope. Delete the track.

Not in Surveyor: the size of an asset is set by the content creator. If you want to experiment with creating content you could clone that asset and have a look at scaling the mesh.

Regarding 2 - there, unfortunately, is not! This is a feature I *so wish* was in the game, but there is not really a way to resize a model aside from the original mesh creator resizing the actual mesh. It does seem simple but I assume there must be some backend tomfoolery that makes it more complicated than it looks, otherwise they would've added it by now, I suppose.

When you lay track you can click the advance button and use the set gradient (top row) to set the incline and then click on the track close to the spline point. set gradient to a minus -1.00 and you get a decline. Then use the smooth tool to get the ground to the track.

Sailor, soap and stage... thank you for your replies.

I did notice the advanced buttons in the track laying tab, but just assumed that was for track, only. I didn't realize one could adjust terrain as well, using those tools.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction -- I'm off and running! (at least until the next snag :) )

Thanks, again.
