I agree completely with ed, he's said what i couldn't manage to put into a coherent argument.
Just putting nyc rolling stock on some track doesnt make it an nyc thread.

I suppose it is if pictures of rolling stock plunked down on a blank baseboard is your idea of NYC.

I assume that means New York City, and even in John's, Dietrichj's and bmoney44's shots I see nothing that would lead me to believe the shots were taken in NYC. I see nothing prototypical here, and I mean no offense to those who posted, but these pictures could be taken about anywhere.

When I read a thread title that lays claim to certain area or city, I expect to see something in the shot that would at least resemble the area the title claims to represent. If you're not following me; if I posted a thread titled "St. Louis" shots, I feel I would be obligated to post SOMETHING that would represent that city. Now, I don't expect the Arch, but an area prototypical to the city would suffice. Blank baseboards are prototypical to the local WalMart parking lot...but that's about it. How about you post something with a New York City Landmark in it? I know there's not too many , but surely something could be represented!

Now, I understand if you don't want to stretch your talent in that way, that's perfectly acceptable, but perhaps you should consider a thread titled "Random Rolling Stock on Bare or Nearly Bare Baseboards" if you decide you're not up to the challenge.

well when I did the thread I didn't know how to make the title because This thread was for trains that are from or based on New York like a New York Central train in Pennsylvannia that can go here or a Pennsylvannia or NJT train at Penn Station

i'm not stopping him, but since that's what is ok, lets have a BR thread, then threads for all the BR sectors, then we can have ones for all the privatised UK rail companies since the BR days! - scotrail, first scotrail, midland mainline, nothern spirit, arriva trains wales, virgin trains, arriva xc, gner, south west trains, national express, one anglia, anglia, strathclyde partnership for transport, london midland, c2c, eurostar, wrexham and shropshire, chiltern, east midlands trains, ews, docklands light rail, great western, first capital connect, first great western, freightliner, gatwick express, heathrow connect, heathrow express, hull trains, island line, london overground, london underground, merseyrail , ni railways, silverlink, south eastern, southern, grand central, northern, central trains and so on!

it'll be great, won't it!

and those are just the ones for UK TOCs!!
