 I'm a new user to Trainz and have not been a "gamer" before. After a short period of downloads and adjusts, my system is up and running. I'm looking for some advice as to where to read some information that will give me the best jump start at using the sytems. Also, are any of the plug in engineer control units worth buying?

It's all due to a change made to steam engine specifications in Trainz Classics 3, which is a version or two earlier than TS2010. What this does mean though is that the Raildriver cannot control steam locomotives properly.

Why would steam vs electromotive make a difference to the Raildriver?

First, welcome to Trainz! I'm sure you'll get alot of enjoyment of it, and spend alot of time on it as well.

Steam engines use different controls than other engines and their configuration files are different. I understand it's up to Raildriver to make it work, not N3V, so hopefully it will be accomplished someday!

The raildriver will control a steam engine in dcc mode using the forward & reverce handle. But it won't work in cab mode not at this time.
Another thing with raildriver you can put your key board away while driving trains.
There is so much that the raildriver can do such as external view, internal view, chase view, map, bell, horn lever,sandbutton,panagrambutton,E-stopbutton(i use to change junctions forward changes junction in front of train backward to change junction behine train)you can choose the first 7 drivers by the 7 buttons at the bottom.set a button to uncouple the loco from train, and much more.It has a MPH read out for most engines.
I Love my raildriver.(nock on wood no problems in 8 years i had it and use it everyday.
