New Trainz user: train does not leave the station.

Im a new user. Im trying to use the different scenarios they give on the disk. Help me! please! What am i doing wrong? I power up the throttle! I turn off the brakes. The train does not move out of the station! The disk I use is copyright 2003-2008, whichever version that is!

Ill look on the "jewel case" the disk came in. meanwhile, do you have a suggestion? any idea? does it have anything to do with the clock in the upper left hand corner? are the scenarios scheduled for the train to run only at certain times?

There should be a year number on the icon on your desktop that you click to start Trainz. 2004, 2006, 2009, ?
Could post the name of a route and the name of a session that you've tried?

Bob

any of the scenarios in the scenario module! Instead of the "DC control" I choose the manual option to work the levers. the engine throttles up, the brake levers work, but the train does not leave the station!

Why don't you tell us the version you're using?

As for getting an engine to move, do you think you could drive a real engine? It's not as simple as start and go. Unless you do everything in the right order, you won't move. If you just want to visit a route, stick to DCC. Cabview is for those who want an authentic type of experience.

Im not trying to drive a "real train." somebody please offer me some USEFUL advice to make it work in the "cab experience" module in Trainz.

new forum member. new to Trainz. Im asking nicefully and respectfully. can somebody give me USEFULL advice so I can get the train to move in "cabin" module? ....fyi: re: the guy who asked "do you think you could drive a real engine?" excuse me? some useful help here, please??????

You've been asked a couple of times. What version are you using. It might also help to know what route and session that you're using.

I dont know what version. I said COPYRIGHT 2003 to 2008!!!!!!!!! The label says "trainz collections" a $10 software at Office Max. It doesnt matter what route!! As I said: SCENARIO module!! SCENARIO module!!!!! SAME problem in every engine in SCENARIO MODULE!! What is the correct sequence of brake and throttle procedures to MOVE the engine?????????????????????? PLease. some help please. most appreciated, thanks to anybody who can start offering USEFUL advice!!!!!!!!!!

All of the exclamation points aren't going to help your situation. We're trying to help, but we need more information. Your Trainz desktop icon should show what version it is or when you click the icon, the next menu should tell you the version. Maybe someone else knows, but I don't have a clue what you're talking about when you say 'Scenario Module'. And yes, it might matter what route and scenario. In some scenarios, some of the engines may not be able to be driven are are controlled by the AI.

That was not an attempt to be clever, it was to show that driving in Cabview is just as difficult as driving a real engine. If you knew how, then only minimal explanations would be necessary. As in real engines, each one is somewhat different so there is not one size fits all explanation either.

looks like its just some special cheap discount-rack version, if that makes sense. I know, every software has a version 1, version 2, version 3.8, etcetera. I dont have a clue what version. Im looking for somebody to give me some pointers on "cabin module" engine start-up that are fundamental to any version of Trainz.

My next best suggestion is to start with one of the Driver tutorial sessions. I believe that all versions have those. There should be tutorials for diesel and steam.

Some trial and error and bada-bing! Some progress!! The Driver moves the train forward with the forward/reverse lever, with the throttle in IDLE! The train picks up speed, and then the train can be throttled up!!!!!! well, why is it none of you told me this?????? holy crap, some experts here. one guy asking me if I think I can drive a real engine! I just want to be able to master something on this software!!! the train starts with the throttle in idle!! No thanks to the experts! "what version??? what version???" that wasnt the relevant question!!!!!!

Bada-bing. You're on my ignore list. Ranting and railing against the very people who are trying their darnedest to help you is a sure fire way to garner nothing but silence when you ask questions.

Good luck

Bill

I love you, will you be my friend?

One note Marcuss:

You will not get what you want easily on these forums by being needy, demanding, or rude. People here respect a level head, a willingness to listen and work, and of course being kind. By shouting and calling people idiots you're going to become a person nobody listens to, that is always ignored, and will not get any help. The people here are other Trainz users, not personal servants for every little problem someone else has. It is out of the kindness of our hearts that we offer the support and help that we do to other people. So keep that in mind.
