New Thomas and Friends?!

hmmmm

Yeah,

I really hate the new Thomas And Friends for two reasons:

1: the voices are different:'(

2: all the mouths move (and it looks creepy)

P.S. I omly have one comment:

1: after all those freak'n years they finally show an American engine!

I dont think they shouldve put hank, rosie or hiro into thomas, they look so out of place on what is a fictional british railway that runs direct copies of real british engines. And yes, the original sodor engines ARE based on real engines that worked near the Rev. W Awdry's home between the 20's and 40's.
The german (rosie), american (hank) and hiro (japanese) engines just look like they shouldnt be there. But I think that Molly, Emily, Murdoch, Neville and Stanley are great, because theyre new engines that are based on other British models. Keeping the continuity is always a winner.

Another thing, WHY THE HELL HAVE THEY STOPPED GIVING THE NEW ENGINES NUMBERS?! They all couldve had them, it looks weird now that you have some that do and some that don't...

I think thomas the tank engine is rapidly losing its sense of Awdry. It's going to end up like bloody Chuggington!!! :'(

@karl_b1000 - Rosie is an American engine designed in WW2 for use on the British railways - as most of their locos had been sent to work in Europe. They also saw use on the European front and were known in the Southern Railway's docks (where they were most heavily used) as 'Yank Tanks'.

Just thought I'd fill you in.

It just gets worse!

I have seen both "Chugginton" and "Thomas & Friends" and although "Thomas & Friends" has issues. :'( At least it's better than "Chugginton". I mean, they don't keep the classic feel of true railroad operations and to make matters even worse :n: the adventures make less sense than the "Thomas & Friends" ones. Well, for one thing a Japanese Bullet Train engine learning how to pull passengers?! You're kidding, right, they were built for that job, so why the heck does one need to learn how to pull passengers?! (Oh god, this is like the whole stupid, "Hannah Montana" B.S.) Believe me, I wish "Chuggington" would chuff over the stupid rainbow it came over on and that rainbow leave it there. :n: Moving on... Thomas is not as bad, but it's getting there. For starters what the heck is with all the new engines?! Emily, I can understand, because of the whole sexism issue. Hank, I can deal with because I like the Pennsylvania Railroad to that degree, but come on, haven't we had enough already?! * Sarcastically* No, lets keep adding more and more engines. *normal* Give me a break! What happened to characters we used to know and love?! You know, Duck, Oliver and so on. I'll tell you what, when HIT Entertainment took over, they wanted to do budget cuts and well, they just blew Thomas into a tornado of vile and putrid. I wish the old episodes were still on in abundance and I'd be happy. :)

I agree - but unfortionatly what they're doing is right - it teaches the kids of today the values of friendship and whatnot. That's what they're aiming to do, not please us lot. I think it's an abuse of the original creation - but I'd be happy with it if you were just to forget about the original and see it as a new show.

Have you been breathing in diesel fumes?! That is the job of the parents, not the officials of television.

@ PereMarquette1225fan - The reason for the new characters is simple... MORE MERCHANDISING and more merchandising means... MORE MONEY!

What it all boils down to is the Almighty Bottom Line, Making a Profit. HiT has forgotten the Awdry roots and I don't think there's anything we can do to bring that feel back. But in Season 13, there was a subtle hint of Awdry writing in the episode "Tickled Pink", where James gets a pink undercoat. The episode was based on a story called "Henry Sees Red", written by Christopher Awdry.

As far as the railroad realism goes, why hasn't anyone brought in the FRA to watch over the railway? Who has ever heard of trains stopping to play around and splash through mud puddles (refer to the episode "Splish, Splash, Splosh")? Plus, there are too many accidents for me to count... the ones in the earlier shows when I was a kid were okay, but this railroad is VERY accident prone... :p

As the fanboys prepare to release the hounds, I make my exit from this topic... Thank you! :hehe: :)

I'm pretty sure the FRA doesn't exist over there. At least not at that time. Nowadays, there definitely would be supervision by the FRA(or the British equivalent), and it'd need to be more realistic!

I agree with all of you. The engines look cool but also creepy. But honestly I want Thomas and Friends Engines on the DLS (Only freeware). I would Enjoy it.

At least my new series Nick the Steam engine will change all of that one. It will have humor, railroading cultural references & all the crashes you would want & don't forget all of the uncensoredness.:hehe: :)

i saw an ad for a new thomas movie the other day, and its completely CGI. i hate to say it, but back around the time said earlier, 2002 back were great, and some of the newer ones were okay, but i liked when they used the train layout and Alec Baldwin as thomas (i think he only did it for thomas and the magic railroad) the best

Dont forget Edward, The old 4-4-0. He was pretty cool. And yea, When I went to the store recently and took a look at the new members of Thomas, I could point out any of em besides thomas. I used to be addicted to that series, and still own a lot of old VHS!!

And yes, the first Thomas movie with Alec Baldwin was amazing. Well written, still in line with the world of thomas, and over all good to whatch.

Nowadays? I cant whatch it anymore. The voices now are to anoying.

i still like Thomas, the old ones tho, i hate the new ones! my littel brother dose tho :n::n:, i as well still own the dinosaur VHS!!:p everything from 2002 and back are just perfect! (well not all, mabby 1996 and back:o)

thomas should just be allowed to evolve as it was inevitably going to anyway.

personally im on the fence about the new thomas episodes. i like the animation, but the stories are pathetic in comparison.

The current Thomas and Friends is TOTAL CRAP! I'm 18, and Recently, I've taken a look back. I loved it when George Carlin did the voices and narrating. Too bad he's deceased.:'(
Plus, I can't find all the episodes on youtube, and my parents threw out my old copies of Thomas and Shining Time Station.
Believe it or not, the events in the old series was actually based off incidents that actually happened. That was a good choice on Rev.'s part.

EDIT: Opps! Almost Forgot. They never showed Duke, did they? Ya know...Grandpuff? Falcon? Stuart?

I question that movie's well written-ness:o. Sodor looked cheap and unrealistic, and was like a ghost-town! Also, the engines had no drivers! We all know the engines can't move without them! Thomas learned that the hard way!

I like some of the new engines, like Emily, Molly, Murdoch, Hank, and Rosie. Other than that, the new series is just plain awful!

Worse yet, I believe HiT also owns Barney!

thats actually an improvement, i never liked barney :n::n::n::n::n:

have a ball! DR:wave:

You're in good company there!
Actually, it's more of a degrading on Thomas's behalf. I always thought Thomas was better:n:! That really makes me want to take a couple Bob-ombs to HiT's corporate offices!

lets all forum a mob and rade HiT!!
