Inyo Mountains - The Iron Stage

Originally, the UP had concentrated on transcontinental east-west connections in the United States. But after realizing that goods and merchandise could also be transported at a high profit on the north-south axis of the Rocky Mountains, they began to realize this profitable north-south axis from the Mexican border.

One of these regions that this axis passed through was the Inyo Mountains, where the ascent was tackled from the wide plains of California, over the southern foothills of the Rockys, through the region of Death Valley, up to the high mountain regions above Badgers Pass, high up to the north.

The rolling stock is also diverse and varied. The AC4400CW locomotives and the Amtrak P42DC have a functioning dead man's control. Furthermore, the locomotives and the Superliner train change their appearance while driving. The longer you drive, the dirtier the vehicles become. When coupling, the hoses are visible and the gangway to the next car extends and at night the coaches automatically switch on the lights.

Experience the change from desert to high mountains, through a fascinating landscape and master the challenge of the elements on exciting rides on a daring railroad line...
