. With that said, I find it easier to first enlarge my cursor circle to the largest possible when I first start making mountains. I set the sensitivity very low and then start moving the cursor over the landscape. This will give me a gentle rolling landscape that serve well as foothills and then I can adjust sensitivity and cursor size to detail areas that I want more prominent.

I second that, but yeah. Doesn't look like this will happen on this route, to many large ant hills:hehe: . Also, i though i'd add my own feedback, railroads are for transporting stuff for A to B in the shortest and cheapest distance possible, i dont know if u were going of realism in this route but that 3rd last pic is not where its at

I'm thinking a small tunnel through there would be cheaper than cutting through the mountains with embankments and then 5 times as much track to lay

Kris, you've been given plenty already. The problem is that you don't seem to listen to any of it and until you do, it's unlikely that you're going to win friends and influence people around here. However, I will try once again to be nice about this.

I'm trying to be as pleasant as possible but perhaps the truth hurts so what you need to do is to carefully read the following paragraphs, absorb them, read them again if you are unsure of what I am saying, realise that it is an effort to help you and make a measured response if indeed you need to make one at all.

What has happened in the past is that you have posted shots of your routes and several very experienced Trainzers have offered you help and hints on how you can improve these routes. This help has been offered free and out of good will. What they normally get in return is the sort of negative, ungrateful and downright ignorant comments the likes of which I'd only expect to hear from a petulant child. Just to reiterate, we all want you to develop your route building skills which is why you get initial comments which you ask for! Not all comments will say "yeah great" and nor should you expect them to. Some will tell you "you need to do this or that" by way of trying to help you.

Based on your previous responses to help, you have managed to annoy and alienate people, something I stated in a previous thread. What you need to do is consider your own responses in this and other threads and understand why you get such negative opinion of your routes. Once you do this, and realise positive criticism isn't an attack on you, you will find that opinion will change but it takes you to listen for this to happen.

I trust and hope that you you may reach an epiphany on reading this.

Your screenshots do need some work ... and there are plenty of people that will assist you, by PM, to help improve your talents.

Edit: It is Aproaching Spring for those in Antarctica, the temps are presently -45F to -65F, wind speed 18mph blowing snow ... snow, cold & work are bad 4 letter wurds, never to be used.

I gave up trying to help people a long while ago but I will try once more.

In the past I have made a lot of routes and most are on the DS. Some are of real routes here in England (I am in Wales now so that's not England...) so how I go about making scenery is to have another PC beside me with Google Earth running - it doesn't have to be anything special as long as it has an Internet connection - and Trainz and the route open on my main machine.

That way I can see what I am supposed to be modelling, be it a field, a mountain, a hills, river or whatever, and I try to copy that over into my route with assets available on the DS.

You can also use Street View to get a better view of things. Look at the area you are making on the Internet and try to make you route look the same. Your mountains do not look like any mountains I have ever seen and I have travelled in the Alps, so go have a look and think about how best to copy what they look like over to your route.

If you do not have a second PC then save out as a shot each section, you won't need many to get the flavour of mountains, and print them out so you have them beside you.

My next advice is not to post bare boards all the time. Try to get some scenery on for folks to look at because bare boards get very boring for them. Anybody can do that so if you want to show your skill or learn then put scenery texture in and scenery objects. There is a lot of skill needed to get this right but again GE will help you.

I am about to put a few shots of my route between Westbury and Bruton on the UK screenshots section so you can see what I mean because I used GE to get this effect. The route is a real on.

This is not meant to pull you down, just give you a direction in which to go. I hope it helps.

Apology accepted. We all have lives outside of Trainz, so we all understand how irritating that can be. As I said before, you have a great deal of potential, and may someday be a Master Route Builder on par with the best of them.

To Kris: You're getting better, but you need to think about prototypicalness. Not in the sense of a route, but of nature, and it's actually look and feel. My .02. Other than that, you're off to a good start.
