Morning all, in a bout of sheer insanity I have decided to jump head first into a project of rather large dimensions. However I know the nice people hereabouts will lend a hand. I have decided to model New Zealand's' spectacular Midland Line from Lyttelton to Greymouth circa 1984-1986. I already have plenty of useful information including Timetables and Signalling/ Interlocking Diagrams. What I need now though are more details from the operational side. Can anyone help with such details as:
What classes of locomotives were housed at Linwood, Lyttelton, and Elmer Lane loco depots
Which classes were typically assigned to which trains
The layout of Waltham Street car yard, Christchurch, Middleton, Springfield, Arthur's Pass, Otira, Stillwater and Greymouth yards (S&I Diagrams don't show these details)
Which trains Switched/ shunted at which stations
Any good photos of the route during said era (I was only just alive and don't have a recollection), especially if they show structures now gone
Anecdotes, funny or otherwise
If all goes well I could be done in a couple of years. Appreciate any help you guys can give me in recreating this beautiful line.
