New PC

ok then how about trainz 06 will that run please help i must play trainz

I would think your system could handle TS2010, even with the integrated graphics. My system specs are below yours (similar processor, but only 1Gb memory and 32-bit OS) and 2010 runs pretty smooth at 1280x1024. The only thing I have cranked down is the visibility to 3000m and anti-aliasing off. But, yeah, you'd be much better off with a separate video card. Your system likely works with PCI Express 16 version 2.0, so make sure any card you get supports that, and I'd go with an nVidia 9000-series or better. Beyond that relatively low-cost investment I'd think your machine would do fine.

yeh thanks RRsignal I hope that it will run then i have the recommended system requirements so huppfully it should run smooth and yours runs smooth with 1gig ram so i am doin better thanks also if i use HDMI is there any improvement on performance

I think a Core i5 or Core i7 offers a degree of 'future proofing' (especially if this is your 'final' PC!) Try and get up to a GTX275 card as well for an extra 50 or 60 quid.

i realy dont have the money for i5 or i7 and its not my final pc i would happely ugrade graphics and a extra stick of 1 gig ram but people say my processor is one of the best celerons yet and that it is better than celeron and also is very good for gaming with good graphics card and ram but upgrades have to wait till im getting paid wich is a while :(

but i have a budget of around £415 but only realy want too spend around 300 because i dont want to blow my savings if you know what i mean will i be able to buy decent pc with my money? and i dont need monitor already have very good one :)

I'd recommend that you increase your ram up to 3 gigs and install something like a 9800 GT. The 1 gig card. (not the 512 version). You could probably pick one of them up for 75 - 90 pound.
I'd take the case to your local computer shop that you normally buy your PC components from to make sure that the card will fit into your case, and to check that your PSU is up to scratch.
Note; Nvidia's new 200 series of cards are much longer/wider and won't fix into a lot of the older ATX cases.

Try these two things, & then your system should be able to run the version of Trainz you want it to... (with your Celeron). You'll probably still have to have the setting "turned down" for the larger, more detailed routes...
Cheers, Mac...

Celeron processors are the "budget" processors of whatever line they are in. They usually have worse performance then the regular version of that processor. (Intel disables specific things, say disabling some of the L2 cache memory, and sells the processor at a lower price. So you could say Celerons are crippled versions of whatever processor they are.)

How much the performance differs would depend on the processor and the specific application. I would never buy a Celeron processor for a gaming machine. (Whether it'd be good enough for Trainz or not I can't really say, from my own experiences it looks like Trainz doesn't use a lot of CPU on my Q6600 overclocked to 3.0Ghz. I am however running XP and using an aging 7600GT video card.)

Have a look at this one:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/176496

ebuyer tend to be a bit cheaper than PCWorld and the specs are usually a bit higher. PCWorld tends to spend more on advertising.

I should have said that these comments were addressed to ess1, the original author of this thread.

Nvidea Cards

Time flies the older you become:'(

Still making my mind up whilst bank manager is in the cupboard:sleep:

Can't get my poor old head around Tom's Hardware site tables and what they mean for Trainz. I am going for an Intel i5 or possibly i7. Card will be Nvidea 2xx.

Appreciate anyone's experience of running TS2010 with this series of cards.

I will have to go to someone like PCSpecialists as I do not have a clue in building a PC.

Thanks.
