New PC

Bob48

Been here since UTC!
I have just purchased a new PC to replace my somewhat creaky 11 year old one. Hopefully, my Trainz experience will be much improved.

What I'm not quite sure of is what I have to do in order to get it all back up and running again. I use T12 as my main version although I do have TANE as well. I have backed by the 'local' and 'original' folders from the 'userdata' directory onto an external drive, and my understanding is that I simply copy these back to T12 and then run a full database repair.

Am I correct in thinking that my user details will automatically identify and install any DLC that I have?

Thank you in advance for any help.

It has been quite a while since I use TANE but in answer to your question, no, your previously installed DLC will not automatically re-install in your new system.

When you start TANE, select the Content Store option (or whatever it was called in TANE - the bottom button on the Trainz Launcher).

In the Trainz Content window that opens, select the Purchased icon. This will identify all the DLC items you have purchased.

For each item that you want to re-install (you may not want to immediately re-install them all) click the Install button. Probably best to do them one at a time. You do not need an FCT as all DLC and Digital Software downloads will be sent to you at the maximum speed that your internet connection will allow.

My recommendations.

A new PC, you will need to install the DirectX9 runtimes for TS12, DX10 upwards are missing a few files and are not fully compatible, will be extremely sluggish without them.

Download and instructions from Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109.

Should have backed up the whole Userdata folder as that also contains the packages folder and all your settings.

One correction, TANE doesn't have a Content store button, DLC Downloads are done from the in Game Menu and should pop up an asset download screen when you start TANE properly.
Content Store is only in TRS19 and TRS22.

TS12 I think you may have to reinstall DLC for all versions up to 49922, not sure on that, may be OK if you copy the whole userdata folder. The format changed with 61388, the last version which has a packages folder in your userdata so just copying your whole userdata folder and running a database repair should install your DLC. If it doesn't they should appear in the in game download updates.
