Hi I am having trouble with a few things,
First off:

1)How do i tell if i have the full version or not? It says I have Trainz Driver North American Edition Trainz version 2.5 (Build 3104)

2) If its not the full version where can i get the full versions? and how do i know if it will work on my pc?

3)Are there other train sim games that deal with mainly railyards like hooking up train cars, moving cars etc? I am not into the whole building stuff.

Thank you for the help

Trying to think of cool railyard routes...I'm building a whopper of one, but it's not on DLS yet...On the Auran Black pags DLS there is an Enola Freight yard It's HUGE...but its kind of double out of real scale of the prototype (much to long and wide). There are many others...I'll get back to you. Marias Pass is my favorite.

Greg008, One of the best routes I've encountered so far that has a lot of yard work and transfer runs is billm001's Pennsylvania & Berwind route. It has 3 large yards and a ton of local industries. It's great for building trains in one yard with local cars and forwarding them to any of the other yards. It's an entirely self contained route, meaning that once you stock up the yards and industries you can run it indefinitely and it's very prototypical which is something I'm really picky about. I highly recommend it. Here is the link to his thread with loads of pictures http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=30076. Oh and I forgot to mention, he created a timetable and tour of the entire route to make it more realistic to operate.

Enjoy!!!

I enjoy laying track and setting up industries not so much doing scenery but I really don’t enjoy creating contours, i.e. hills, valley, rivers, etc. No matter how hard I try, they never look right.
You might try looking at some of the “contour only” routes created by “fishlipsatwork”. He has done some great routes from all over the US. They are not ready made routes and require a lot of time to get trains running, but all the mountains, hills, valleys, etc. are all done with the exception of some fine tuning at river crossings.
It’s worth a look.

This is not the "full" version - it is a driver only version - if I remember right you are not able to add on to it (I could be wrong as I never looked at)

You purchase the full version from the Auran Online Shop http://www.auran.com/auran/shop.php

I do not know directly of any other rail sims that only have railyards but if you search the forums and DLS you should find some sessions / scenarios that have a great deal of switching capabilities.

When downloading a route for TRS - ensure you have the correct version of the software for the route and prior to downloading the route, check it's dependencies as some routes will use content that is not available on the Auran DLS and you may have to spend a lot of time searching for the "missing" content or perhaps even purchase the content if it is payware.

As for system requirements I have found the following to be an absolute minimum:

- 2GHz Processor (the faster the better)
- 2GB RAM - though TC3 needed 4 for good performance with supplied routes
- NVidia Graphics card with dedicated not shared ram - the more the better and a higher end card will provide better performance - ATI will work good too but again ensure it has plenty of dedicated ram.
- Windows XP has fewer problems then Vista but once properly set up both work
- lots and lots of time since you will total get immersed in the game!

have fun

Brian

Trainz has tremendous potential to do just that. Try any of Philskene's routes, such as "Port Ogden and Norhern", "Riverside Railway", "Industrail" etc. Be sure to check out his sessions for his routes, if you enjoy doing shunting. You'll have a lot less problems finding all the dependancies with his routes and sessions, and his routes are gentler on the computer resources than some others.

Greetings Greg,

And as far as a great deal, at Amazon is "Trainz - The Complete Collection"

For a rather cheap price it will give you way too much to do :)

This is getting embarassing. I can't figure out how to get started, I think I understand that I am supposed to LAUNCH the program, but can't find out how or where, Please help!

I can see all of the ads to buy this program but nowhere do I see a place to get started or how, such as Launch

First off, a few questions. Since we started this thead to assist some one who had Trainz Driver, for you now, let's start at the beginning.

Have you purchased a version of trainz yet or are you at a web site when you see "all the ads" - My guess is the web site. At the very top of this page you will see the link to get ts2009 or go back up to my previous reply for the Auran Store link. Once at the online store look for the version of trainz you want - for full content I recommend 2006 or 2009 the TC versions have limited content and most downloads will not work unless you import the TS2006/ts2004 content which means you will have to buy that too.

If you have purchased the product, what version did you purchase?
When you go to start it, how to do you start it? What Icon do you click on?
After clicking on the Icon what does the screen show exactly?
What are your system specifications?
- Operating system
- memory (not hard drive space)
- what type of video card and How much dedicated (not shared) memory on the card itself.
- Do you have Directx 9.0c or higher installed?
- Can you run the TrainzDiag tool for us?

If you can give these details we will know how to respond to your inquery.

Brian

Thanks in advance

Brian, I purchased trainz 2009, I can see all of the downloads now but none work, the error I get says it gcan't open the file because the program needed to open them is missing.
Do I really have to purchase the other two programs? I was under the impression that 2009 included all of the other files .
Thanks
Gary

When you purchased it, did you purchase the dvd which will be mailed to you or did you purchase the digital download? If the digital download, you would have been emailed a serial number which must registered in your planet auran profile. The email also had the download link. Is this what you have?

Assuming you have TS2009 already installed, did you open it from a desktop icon or from the Windows Start Menu? If so, you were presented with what is called the launcher windows where you select to Start, Options, Content, manual, Website, Extras, Forum, Quit. From this menu, you select Content which will launch CM2 (content Manager 2). This is the prefered window to use to manage and download content. Do you get this Screen?

Please let us know if this is what you are seeing.

Brian

I'm gonna check on that right now, I may have not seen the Button after I entered my SN
