Hello everyone, I have just bought Trainz the complete collection and I really love the game. I hope I enjoy myself on the forum  :D . I am just so confused, though, since this is all so new to me. Could I have someone answer a few questions, please? Thank you :) !

Hello Brickbuilder. Thank you for the warm welcome! I am gald you would like to answer my questions, but I am not sure how many I have :p .

First question: I have looked into the game deeply about Amtrak. I don't see any Amtrak locomotives, however. I only see their cars and in one of the tutorials, a cargo train was pulling amtrak passengers :n: . So, I went to the download station, but I am not completely sure that it is free for downloading. Is it?

The download station is free to download! The costs are for faster downloading. Anyway, ProTrainz does have Amtrak Genesis locomotives for free. Do not forget to commit the locomotives on Content Manager Plus once you get the locomotives from ProTrainz.

Ohh, ok, because I did find a couple of amtrak models that I would love. Could I do that with the download helper, or must I do it the way you have just described?

I think you will find this forum to be one of the best, and user friendly  we have user's from all over the world that have one thing in common, we all love trains;)

I recommend reading the Content Manager part of the manual, and searching the forum to begin with, and if your still stuck, there's tons of help here!

Have fun!:D

Hmm, well, I am going to have to tell the ship simulator forum that they have some competition for a friendly forum :p.

You would have to save the Content Dispatcher Pack and then open via Content Manager Plus for non-Download Station content.

If the items you are looking for are on the DLS, you can use Download Helper.

Hmm, ok. May I ask you this: Could I just follow the instructions the downloader helper gives me instead of listening to what you are saying? Because I am really confused . Sorry.

Sure. It is just that the Content Dispatcher packs are for non-DLS content.

Download Helper will work flawlessly for Download Station. ;)

Then I will go for that! Thank you sir!

Here comes the next question: In the city level of Trainz 06, it says it is only a demo and that I can get the full version at a website. Do I have to pay for the full version?

For the download station, you can (and I recommend that you) use the Download Helper; it's quicker than downloading via FTP (which you can do from the online DLS). For third-party sites (and there are plenty out there, so check the Freeware forums for the latest stuff! :D), if you click on the "download" button, the .cdp file (the file type for Trainz assets) will open itself in CMP automatically after it's been downloaded to your computer (NOTE: this onlyworks if you select "open" instead of "save to disc" in your browser. Otherwise, you have to then find the .cdp, which will be wherever downloaded items go, and double-click, and then it will open itself automatically same as above).

For Amtrak content, I recommend Passenger Content Creation, Virtual Bech Grove, and ProTrainz (Magicland has a nice Amtrak Pack available as payware, as well--see "premium content").

Welcome aboard!

By the way, there's also some Phase I Amtrak content by Landrvr1. If you search the forums, there should be a thread about obtaining his content. Try searching "Amtrak California Zephyr landrvr1".
