Fire Up Cliffside 110!
A local scenic railroad in North Carolina called the New Hope Valley Railroad has a new steam Locomotive. The locomotive is a 1923 Vulcan 2-6-2 #110, originally built for the Cliffside Railroad in the western part of the state. It was retired by the Cliffside in 1962 and sold to the Swamp Rabbit Railroad in South Carolina. It was later moved to Stone Mountain in Georgia where it operated on the scenic railroad there for several years. After sitting as a display on the Stone Mountain property for a few years, the engine and tender were moved to Bonsal, N.C. where the railroad is. The loco will need to be overhauled before being able to operate under it's own power again along side their current steam loco, a Vulcan 0-4-0T.
