New Helpdesk Comments

Hi Spiffy,

The new HelpDesk looks quite good and hopefully easier for some people to find answers to their problems.

One thing I have always thought would be useful though, is to be able to "Preview" the inquiry first. Is this something that can be added to the new system?

Another thing with the new HelpDesk is not being able to see our old requests. At time I have used them to help others with problems on the forums.

I have also submitted my first request for help :hehe: , but its a repeat of an old one :hehe:

EDIT: Just received the email confirming my request for Help at the HelpDesk, neat idea :)

Hi seeseeme,

I dont believe there is a function for previewing requests at this time. I will look into it but I dont believe it will be there. As for your second point that is already in the system. ONce logged in there is an option to view tickets, in there it will list your previous tickets which you can look at the details of. or are you talking about the old helpdesk system tickets?

I am talking about the old tickets, I saw how the new ones are there after my first request for help.

That may be a consideration for the future, at the moment I do not want to mess with the old pages to much, if this new system fails we need to be able to immediatly roll back to the old one. Once we are confident the new system is working as it should i can set the old one up as an archive view.

Ok, thanks Spiffy :)

Hi Spiffy,

The Helpdesk screen certainly looks good & appears quite user-friendly as well.
Thank you to whomever for doing this great work. The time & effort is appreciated, even if we don't actually see it happening 'behind the scenes'!

It can not get any worse then the "old" system. If only they would get rid of Yeomans it actually might become a helpdesk as it is supposed to be. Man, that guy is dumb.

Seems funny that this is only your 10th post and you are already complaining about one member of staff. Alan Yoemans in my opinion is an asset to the forums. Many members may disagree with your post. I have had good advice when I have had problems, and every problem was sorted. So be careful with your posts and you will make many friends.

Spiffy...

Like the new layout, very user friendly. Good idea about keeping old help desk as an archive.

Takes one to....you know the rest.

Who's the dummy now.

This thread needs to be monitored, this guy is making the same stupid comments all through the forum.

Seems like one of the trolls has resurfaced.

If we cant get our questions answered by the old Helpdesk will the new one be any better?
I have contacted helpdesk and tried to contact Spiffy about the last anouncment.
Patch 38599 Released and
Change List
* 'convert-tex.txt' is no longer considered a valid texture format during asset validation.
Since I installed 09 I have been unable to commit any content either from the D/S or my own.
I get Error: Texture compression failed for file ''
Error: Failed to commit changes to asset due to file access error.
I found out later that if I made a 'convert-tex.txt' doc in addition to the normal text doc for each tga or bmp that the content uses I could then get the content to commit and show up in CMP with no errors and in game.
However with this change list it means that if I want to upload any of my content for 09 it will be refused becuse of this change.
I want someone to tell me how I am going to get content accepted for 09 bearing in mind that I have no other optiion of getting content into 09 in the first place without first making a convert-tex.txt' doc.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Format

Nice and clean. Speed is good. Time will tell if action is the same as there must be someone on the other end all the time for this to work. Fellas, look at it this way- since the old system didn't work so well, anything should be an improvement!

The only Trainz editions listed in the "Submit a Ticket" list is TRS2009. By this it seems that all editions below that are no longer supported. Very odd term any way, submit a ticket, what we all are going to the movies? Or taken to the cleaners?
:hehe:

new help desk

have tried to look at the new set up but each time I log on it tells me that my user name and password are invalid yet the same user name and password gets me anywhere on the old system why
