 hello,i know there is a post about this out there somewhere already, but i looked and there is toooo much about other stuff and i have limited time.. i have been trying for a month now to figure out why the content manager plus wont let me download anything.. I did the check with my graphics and all that, and thats ok, i uninstalled over 4 times now and reinstalled. But time and time again, i get the same response so maybe somone can help me out there with slaughtering me for restarting this..

Hello,

When you take an Item and put it in the download tray, and click start, does the Kps register at 0.00? If so it is a memory card issue, or something to do with that. Would you be so kind as to place your computer specs here please?:)

Thank you,

Take care,

Ryan:wave:

by specs, what do u mean grapics card? porcessor what..? im not swift with computors, so u have to put it in lamen terms here, right now im using what little common sense i do have..

Yes, the graphics card, processor, and the RAM would be helpful as well.

It would probably help if you just posted one message.

Step one would be check to see if you can download via ftp from the DLS.

Step two would be to double check your Internet settings to see you have your userid and password entered. This varies from Trainz version to Trainz version, which one do you have?

ok well.. first off the message im gettin is '' Content Manager Plus stopped working, windows wil find a resolution to find a problem.. second i have a

intel(R)Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2390@1.86 GHz
as for graphic i have a Intel 965 Express chipset, i dont know if that helps..Also what is the FTP i dont know what that is..

It helps us understand what the problem is but it definitely doesn't help you.

Run the trainzdiag.exe program and see what fails. I suspect it is going to be the OpenGL section (which CMP needs in order to work). If it does fail your solution is to either update your graphic's drivers to one that works (not lilkely) or get a proper graphics card (more assured of success).

Different issue.

Hey guys, I didn't want to be a nuisance and creat a new thread, but I'm probably being one anyway by posting on here. I'm sure it's an unimaginably simple issue, but I'm a bit slow with these things :hehe:

When i try to download something from the DLS or open the Content manager (TRS 2006) it just says to me; "Unable to register Trainz URL registry key".
And when I launch trainz, it just freezes in the loading screen. Any advice, help? (I'm running Vista, 64mbGC, 2.2Ghz, 1.2gb ram if any of it matters)

:'(

I am a search function failure. Sorry guys :)

You do have a penchant for misunderstanding what people are saying in their posts...:hehe:

Sorry the guy has posted three different threads with the same message. This means the answers / information is not all in one place.

Where is the misunderstanding?

Has your posted added any value? If it hasn't you may wish to think before you post.

shiwun4u, I see you're relatively new here, but the issue John has raised is commonly called Flooding in any forum community. Flooding is considered one of the worst abuses of a forum and it is described in the Trainz Forums Code of Conduct as a punishable offence.

In case you don't understand any of this, you must NOT create identical threads or ask identical questions in different areas of the forum - any forum anywhere. It's against the rules, it wastes people's time, and it gets their backs up. Just make a post in the place you think is appropriate and wait a day or two for an answer. If you don't get an answer, it sadly means that nobody can help. That my friend, is very rare on the Trainz forum as you can see from the replies you've received already.

Now you know how to post, sit back, ask questions, supply answers if you can, and enjoy.

technical help from a professional tech

Hi,
I am a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, and I have extensive knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting.

I have every TRAINZ program and TS 2009 and they all function at MAX graphic / visual settings and I have frame rates above 60 frames per second regardless of the density of objects and draw distances on the monitor screen.

1. What Operating System are you using?
2. Go To the Control Panel and Select the System Icon.
3. It will list your SYSTEM SPECS and MANUFACTURE. write it down on paper.
4. Click the HARDWARE TAB, and it will show a button called DEVICE MANAGER. click it.
5. This will list all the components of your computer box. LOOK for the DISPLAY ADAPTER.
6. click the plus sign to expand it and it will show the type and if you right click it you can select the UPDATE DRIVER...

You will need to reboot your PC for these HARDWARE updates to take effect.

7. Go To Windows Update.
8. Start INTERNET EXPLORER.
9. Select the TOOLS MENU and choose WINDOWS UPDATE.
10. There is an EXPRESS mode -> select Express.

You may need to do this several times and reboot several times depending on how OUT OF DATE your Operating System is. i.e. service packs, critical updates, etc.

This will completely update your Windows / Vista Operating System.

NEXT.....................

Your Computer may need some basic house keeping performance tuning...
So open your Explorer so you can see your C:\...
If you right click on it and choose Properties it will show the GENERAL info of how much USED SPACE and FREE SPACE on your local hard disk drive. You may have very little space available or you may have lots of free space...
CLICK the TOOLS TAB... now click the button DEFRAGMENT NOW...
Click the ANALYZE button and it will most likely state you NEED TO DEFRAG your DRIVE so do it... CLICK DEFRAGMENT... you may need to do this more than once to fully get it optimized.

NOW that your computer box hardware is completely up to date with the lastest video drivers AND your Windows / Vista Operating System is fully updated, you can actually start troubleshooting every software application you have loaded on your PC.

1. Does your PC meet or exceed the Minimum Specifications for using the TRAINZ software application?
2. Did you change the TRAINZ Options to increase or decrease the Visual Graphics in the TRAINZ?
3. You should start with the lowest possible visual graphics settings in TRAINZ, then as you use the TRAINZ program, increase and adjust only 1 setting at a time and DO NOT choose the MAXIMUM settings until you have determined which slider is causing you problems.

So many people choose MAX Draw Distance and MAX shadows and MAX MAX MAX.... it crashes and they blame the software for it. Your PC can't handle MAX MAX MAX MAX.........

When you get a pop up window with an error message you should write it down word for word on a piece of paper OR take a SCREEN CAPTURE and print it out.

Uninstalling and ReInstalling software applications will never fix an error message... the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different results every time... it doesnt work that way...

Your TRAINZ software application will need all of the Service Packs to UPDATE your version of TRAINZ.
From this Forum Discussion Web page you can Click the Download Station button at the top of the page.

There are some minimum requirements to use the Download Station.
You will need to read the HELP section for Download Speed and ACCESS, DOWNLOAD REQUIREMENTS, Download Helper and Download Helper UPDATE...

If you meet all those listed requirements and you still have problems post your EXACT ERROR MESSAGE and list your EXACT STEPS of what you CLICKED ON AND WHAT YOU DID BEFORE AND AFTER...

I always hear from people who DENIED they ever did something or clicked on something.........
