Does anybody know were I can find any new contant for Trainz. Download station has gone down the nick since trainz 2004 and 2006 contant was stopped, every time I visit same old stuff, no new contant for a while now.

I for one will not be renewing my first class ticket wnen it expires. Auran have lost all the good content makers after dumping trainz 2004 and 2006 and now download station is suffering from it. I hope the lost content makers are still making new content for trainz and finding new websites to put their content on and keeping trainz alive.

Hi Mallard (a fine name I might add, but then I am biased having grown up seeing her on a regular basis).

My understanding is that while Auran are no longer support TRS2004, that only means no updates, no fixes, basically no further functional interest! I do not believe that they are blocking TRS2004 creators from uploading to DLS. I too have noticed no DLS activity since Nov 27 but my search includes all versions of Trainz so I have to assume that either everybody is playing Trainz and not producing..... or DLS has a problem.

DLS uploads have been failing for about a week, Terry seems to have sorted it though- it's worth keeping an eye on this thread to see what is going on:

I agree, to a point.

For me the DLS is still worth using. There is a lot there I haven’t yet got, or found.

One method to maximise DLS use is to start a new route, possibly in a different country. This opens up a totally new opportunity to find “new” items (i.e ones which, for you, have never been seen before).

However, the amount I am now finding is beginning to taper off now that we no longer have the regular drip-feed of new items. It was always quite inspirational to look into the DLS each day, find new items which you never thought to look for, and incorporate them into Surveyor.

I’m hoping for a happy solution to all this – and am using more and more 3rd party sites.

Meanwhile, I’ll still use the DLS in order to:

- show some solidarity towards the great creators, (who have done more than anyone to keep this sim alive). Their stuff is still in there, and too good to waste.

- help ensure the survival of Trainz

- ensure the survival of this fine Forum


Having said all that, stopping the uploads of TRS2004 assets to TS2010 standards has been a big mistake IMHO.

I think what we've got is a problem with uploads, plus I think we were getting used to the number of uploads we were getting a couple of months ago when a lot of creators were trying to beat the September deadline...

I'm not aware of that many creators totally abandoning the DLS, though a good few have said that they will host a TRS04 copy elsewhere (mostly TPR). I'm certainly working on quite a few things for TS09, but they are mostly big projects, so they take a while...

Hi Paul - If you guys are "crappy creators", then long may you keep creating crap because not only do I get huge pleasure from it, but I am willing to pay (to you and a few others) for this crap.

I think perhaps we are on one of those "I want perfection but cannot set the example" kicks?

Mo, I think we've all got a bit spoilt with so much great free content that when the upload process goes down for a couple of days some people think the world has ended.

I was just picking on an unfortunate turn of phrase for my own entertainment - it was a bit like someone turning to you at a party and saying "it's all gone downhill since all the interesting people left!"

... I do not believe that they are blocking TRS2004 creators from uploading to DLS....

I hate to tell you this, but they are in fact blocking new 2004 content from being uploaded to the DLS. Some 04 and 06 creators are uploading to 3rd party sites. I, for one, am still creating in 04, but I'm not uploading anywhere.

I still make my items for 2004 but place them on the TPR site. Then I run them CCP to convert them to 2009 format and upload them to the DLS. I uploaded 10 items this morning. 2 traincars and 8 interactive coal mines.
