Hi Guys, I thought our thread was a bit slow lately, but nice pictures liven it up.
Rob725 has pointed out that a number of the static model of aircraft will not place in Surveyor, though they show no errors, and appear in the Surveyor selection menu.
They are older models checked in TRS2009 and uploaded some time back, they do not place in TS10 or 12, something has changed with those versions.
The models are static versions of the Dash-8, Fokker F-28, Pilatus, Piper Seneca, and possibly a few more (Messerschmitt and Heinkel).
The static versions were obviously made from the drivable ones. These had meshes like the flaps, body and wheels attached to a main invisible mesh that could be animated, in order to flare the aircraft fir example.
Anyway, TS10 and 12 is not handling the attachment point reference in this part of the config:
body
{
mesh "body.im"
auto-create 1
att "a.origin"
att-parent "default"
}
For the Fokker, Piper Seneca, and Dash 8 models, the point is on the origin of the main mesh, and the reference can be deleted.
If you have uploaded any of these models as reskins, can you please replace your models - delete the line in blue above, give your model the next version number and a build of at least 2.8 for the DLS.
For any aircraft like the Pilatus that has the tail on the ground, this method will not work, because the static model will not be inclined at that angle, I will have to redo the static model meshes for tail dragger models.
Perhaps not many use the models after all, as no one contacted me about the issue earlier.
I will replace the problem models soon. As there are now many startup models which can be used as a static one, I may not bother with separate static models in future. However, I have had a request for some static models with cargo and passenger doors open for loading, I may look at some of those if anyone is interested.
