New Aircraft

Yeah, Ian, can you're future planes have a flaring option?? Most planes actually do flare, 737's, 767's, a380's to a lesser extent even

Jamie

We have a limited number of keys available, B, H, and V. B is now used for startup, the H key for firing guns or cabin announcement (and for liftoff for helicopters) and the V key is usually used for doors on recent aircraft and helicopters.

So to do flaring, I have to do a special animation and sacrifice one of the above functions.

I have just fiddled the Qantas Fokker, it now has startup with the B key but has lost the flaring, I need to rework the sound file yet. This model does not obsolete the older Fokkers, so you can still have flaring on those, but they have constant running props. :o

Perhaps I can use the V key for flaring for the startup model, but we are losing consistency (dedicated keys across all aircraft).

Ian

Of course Ian, it would be a great idea to make a startup version for the F27.
I can wait for it before upload.

I am wondering if, in the case of a startup plane, a static version is still necessary?

Pascal

Hello Pascal,

Perhaps not, I had no plans to do static versions, they have been done for the F27. To place an aircraft you would need to put down some invisible track. I don't think it would have a bigger frame rate impact as a train car than for a scenery item.

Ian

Not at all, you are saving me a job! :D Just flick me a PM of the ones you are going to do. Just one small thing though, can you please add a line in the config that states along the line of "A reskin/update of the of the reskin by nzms of the original Vulcan model.'"?

Also, the Novair A320 has been uploaded and is now waiting aproval on the DLS.

Maynard.

P.S on that note I am still willing to take PM's from TS2012 users who want reskins updated.

Maynard,

I've done the following startup versions.
Dash 8-311 - US Airways
Dash 8-400 - Continental Connection
Dash 8-400 - Qantas link (only the pink startup existed)

I'm going to send the config files to Ian to make sure I'm not doing something completely stupid. I also made sure the quote you asked for is there in the two north American ones.

I've also completed a 767 reskin in UPS livery. I'm not completely happy with it yet, but I'm learning fast. My next one will probably be a DC10 in UPS colours followed by a 727 while I'm in the UPS groove. I'm not quite up to doing the complex Air Canada Dash 8's I need yet.

Oh. And how do I upload pics to these forum threads? Do I have to upload them to a different site so I can add a url?

Rob

Try either hostthepost.org, or start a photobucket account, which I like better.

next copy the link Direct link and paste it in the add picture feature above.

Great job to all of you.

Ian,

Would flaring be better handled with an aircraft trigger much like the tyre smoke. You only flare on takeoff & land anyway so the logic checks out. That would free the other keys up for other features.

How about a standard for military and a seperate for commercial

ie....
Military
H-----Gun
V-----Doors/missiles
B-----Bomb/other military effect

Commercial
(these are what I would prefer

H-----Flare
B-----Flaps
V-----Startup/speedbrakes

Hello,

I have issued 4 new reskins of the Fokker F27 Friendship.
These models are related to french commuter airlines of the 70's-80's.
Thanks to Ian for having published the startup version of this aircraft.

Twin Otter Float Plane

I've uploaded my first re-skins to DLS this week. I've re-skinned the West Coast Air Twin Otter that Ian (Vulcan) created recently with a couple of older paint schemes. I'm not sure whether any of them have actually appeared on DLS as yet (Ian kindly sent me a cdp of his original one.... the green & blue) but I have uploaded them.

Pictured is the West Coast Air Twin Otter fleet at the Vancouver Harbour float plane terminal (It's a work in progress).

Hopefully they'll be available shortly if not already. Just use the keywords "Twin Otter" in content manager & you'll find them easy enough if they are indeed in DLS.

My Vancouver route also includes the International airport (YVR).

I've also been busy with a couple of UPS aircraft reskins that I plan to upload shortly. I've asked Ian to have a look at them before I get too carried away.

Dash 8

And another minor addition doing my bit for the community.
Three Dash 8s to the fleet. These are existing reskins, but startup versions.
Dash 8 311 Us Airways (Vulcan gave the paint scheme a bit of a touch up)
Dash 8 400 Qantas link
Dash 8 400 Continental Connection (I need to go back & clean up the paint on the base of the tail at some point)
I have uploaded them (I think) so they should be available on DLS shortly.

Hey Guys

I have great news! Ian's Taxiway points and turnouts now work in TS12! Thanks to the new Hotfix, that is - EDIT: They still don't switch points, I am unsure of what causes this

I've also started work on Ode to Vulcan again, and will have progress shots soon

Unfortuneanly for Ian, that means I'll be requesting content soon, including his Blackhawks

Hi

I started to reskin Vulcan's DC3 used by many airlines after WW2.
First one is Air France, and should be followed by Iberia, Swissair etc..

Here, AF DC3 just arrived to parking stand. Staff is ready for passengers disembarkment, and post unloading.

DC3 Air France startup is now available at the DLS.

Thanks to Ian, who managed to issue his DC3-C47 with startup functions (also available at the DLS).
