Need some assistance.....

For almost the last month I have been posting a thread http://forums.auran.com/trainz/show...t-more-enjoyment-out-of-Trianz-Model-Railroad that shows how you can add to a pre-installed layout, including new industries and details even though the original layout is considered "payware" content. I have been asked a few times to post a "session" of it for others to try. Frankly I am completely clueless on how to go about this and would really like somebody to explain it or point me in the right direction since I am almost finished with this project and have just a few more areas to work on. I enjoy modifying as much as I enjoy operating the trainz running on it.
Thank you for any help, this is a very new experience coming from TS20xx and thankfully a very fulfilling one.

If you would create a session and the route you have been editing has still the original KUID, those who download the session will still be driving around on the original route (so not see your changes).
If you would create a session and the route you have been editing has a new KUID, those who download the session will find a useless session with one very important missing dependency; the route.

Since you are not allowed to share the altered route, creating a session for it is useless.

What if you have the original route and I create a new kuid, would it not download the missing assets since you still have the original route installed referencing the information ?

Which route is referencing which material?
Answer:
The original route is referencing the original material.
Your route (with a new KUID) is referencing the material you put in place.

Sessions only reference the assets you put in the session (usually only rolling stock and session rules) and the route, not the content of the route and where it is situated.

So if you make a session, you have a few options:

  • You make a session for the current route.
Bad idea as it will not look like how you made the route look.
  • You make a session for your version of the route, which you are not allowed to share.
Bad idea as the session is useless since you will be the only one with the route it points at.
  • You make a session with (bad practice) instead of only rolling stock also all the buildings and splines you have added.
Bad idea both the content you added and the original content will be loaded, making all look terrible as hell since everything is in top of each other.

So in short:
Your project is and will be a "nice for personal joy and screenshots only" project as far as I can see.

The (in my opinion) solution:
Since you do have some decent route building skills, I would suggest you start a route from scratch as that will be your route and you are free to do what you want with it :) .

Here is a Tip: There is a rule that any pre-installed routes and sessions you have in TMR2017 cannot be edited, changed or uploaded to the DLS.

However, we are permitted to 'clone' the route or session if we are intending to edit or make some changes. This is purely for your own use and not for re-distribution again.

If you stick to the rules, then I'm sure you will have no problems.
