Need some guidance as in what category should I post into?

Hello, all!

This is my first post after just joining
this discussion, so please forgive me and provide kind assistance if I have posted
to the wrong subsection!

I am new here but a real enthusiast and loving this
community so far. I have few question and also some suggestions.
I could help with documentation, at least for starters.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums and to Trainz @mmmittchel!

The forum categories are relatively self-explanatory and there's a bit of crossover with posts. Generally, for questions such as your request for documentation can be posted in the General forum while Trainz version specific posts should go there in the version-specific forums, i.e. Trainz 2019 questions go in Trainz 2019.

Surveyor and Driver questions go in that forum, but there's a bit of a crossover between product and Surveyor because there are new things with TRS22. Anyway, don't worry about it!

There's lots of documentation spread all over. There's the Wiki

https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/Main_Page with a large section of How To's.

There are also built-in tutorials which we highly recommend you go through as well as the forums. Don't be afraid to ask questions!

I think maybe they are offering to help improve the docs? If I read it literally, that's what I'm reading.

Assuming OP is using Trainz2022 and wants to make suggestions about the most recent docs, then post in the Trainz2022 area. I would assume if any such suggestions are taken up they would only be updating the most recent docs.

If he/she wants to, by all means. The Wiki is open for everyone to edit if they want. No, I'm not interested.

In some alternate universe Trainz is an open source project, and this kid graduates from fixing docs to committing code, LOL.
I've worked on open source projects before, not quite being good enough to contribute to code, I would help improve the docs.
Didn't put 2 and 2 together to realize the wiki is user editable thanks @JCitron
Just to be sure you're talking about this?

Thanks, just making sure with that old domain name.

There is also an old Trainz Wikibook that is/was maintained by mawilson, not sure now, however it may be considered defunct with the Auran Trainz Wiki. Why?
Personally I like the flow of the Wikibook better.
