I usually don't have a problem matching track ballast in order to build matching ballast ground textures, but the following image of a TRS19 track ballast has so far proven almost impossible for me to find a seamless match too.
That ballast comes from <kuid2:661281:44099:9> TRS19 Trk Jarrah Procedural - Seasonal which I am using to upgrade my route to TRS19 standards. The actual ballast textures comes from <kuid2:661281:44102:15> TRS19 Trk Jarrah Mesh Lib. TRS19 does not provide a matching PBR ballast ground texture to go with that track, which is what I am trying to do.
I am not even sure what material is being used here. I have looked for crushed rock, crushed gravel and all types of ballast textures on the Internet but none seem to match this ballast type. Also because of the oil stains I cannot just use the track ballast texture as it is and I am not enough of an artist with GIMP to be able to remove it without changing the nature of the texture.
Does anyone know where the base texture which is being used here comes from and what type it is?
I have been working on this for some time now and am frankly stuck, which is unusual for me.
