need help to get off the ground.....

i have been wrestling with trs-related software and am taking a beating! i am getting nowhere. i have a simple question. how do i take an item such as a u.s. watertower and paint it yellow? that would be a good start. i have objectz and no idea what to do with it; TOE which seems to allow me to view my chosen object, zoom in and out and even rotate it but what else i am not sure; gmax and the trainz game pack and even trying to follow the instructions has led me to a dead end. i will struggle on with these latter things, but if someone could kickstart me so i can at least have my yellow watertower i would be really grateful.

Step one edit your post and take out the email address @ sign.

will take you through the steps. You'll need either GIMP or paint.net to do the colour changing editing, both are free.

If you have money then buy Paintshop Pro XI if you have a single core cpu or XII if you have dual or quad core. They aren't that expensive on ebay and it does have a colour changer option which can be very useful.
