Hi All,
I have Trainz Simulator 12 Build 49922. It won't autoupdate as it thinks I need to upgrade my OS to XP SP3. That won't be happening as I am on Windows 7. I am a novice to Trainz. I got it late last year and then got ill. I am now trying to get started. I saw some advice not to use SP1 of TS 12. Do I just ignore all the updates and use 49912? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the Trainz forum.

There are different opinions. Some say "Upgrade to SP1HFx", others say "Stay with build 49922".

I would suggest you do both; or at least that is what I did. In other words: Do a 2nd install and patch one of your two games to the latest version (yes, on the same PC, without problems (neither technical nor legal)).
This way you can decide for yourself. If the latest version does not give you problems, keep that. If now, go back. Or like me: Keep both; Develope in one, play / test in the other.

For manual patch downloads, go here:

Before you do that, you need to sort the issue regarding why it thinks you are using XP SP2.

The likely reason is that you originally set the compatibility options for the Trainz shortcut to XP Service Pack 2. If that is correct (check by right-clicking the shortcut, then clicking Properties, then clicking Compatibility) then untick the box just above that dropdown and click OK.
