Nebraska Route Removed Free Assets When Uninstalled

I removed the Nebraska yard "route". Then I discovered that several assets that were free on the DLS also were also removed. I had never had this before. Removing a route would remove items indigenous to that route but the freeware assets from the DLS were untouched. So, now I have to keep Nebraska route installed or loose several free assets on many installed routes. Very scary for awhile since the free stuff was used extensively on most of my routes.

Yep, fixed the problem. However, I never had the removal of a route also remove assets which were free, and on the Download database. Just another oddity that may be exclusively in my system.

It's not. You can't claim ownership of that. I had it happen as well when I deleted a test route I received from the Plus subscription. That broke my consists, my routes, and other payware. I resorted to reinstalling assets from backups and the DLS.

Not just you had it here as well just two days ago, the payware stuff is in packages and unless you had it before the payware, is not in your local or original folder so needs downloading as the ones in Packages have gone to the great Trainz bin in the sky.

This has been a feature of these routes since they were introduced. The purpose is to encourage people to maintain their subscription after a 'free' trial, to avoid going through the hassle of finding everything that got deleted.

It has been my experience that stuff that was on the DLS would not be removed when deleting a payware product. May have changed or no recent experience with the process fogged the memory. If this is how it is supposed to work you impact all of your free routes if they have DLS assets that are also in the deleted payware. I would say that the punishment does not fit the crime.

Payware will overwrite any installed asset. So if you have something installed as freeware and install some payware, those DLS freeware items become payware. When the payware is installed the items are removed, and you have to search for them all over again. It's not only DLS items that get overwritten like this, so often you have to get the items back from their original sites.

Yup this is why I restored some of my content from my original purchased assets I had backed up.
