Narrow gauge screenshots

Ya know - I've often wondered how the engineers in double or even triple headers like above coordinated their throttle movements. Get a bunch of cowboys at the throttle and it would be worse then a hotrod demolition derby (or your local Interstate at rush hour, lol). Perhaps with small locos they could holler back and forth but I'd think any sort of radio system would be rare on a ng line. Any thoughts gents? Just curious.

I'm pretty sure they used whistle codes, and the loco with the biggest compressor ran the brakes.

This was a Quintuple (5) header in NSW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7woDA2VOPtk
At one point they all hang on the whistles. I think they're just having fun at that point.

Hadn't ever found the time or performance to run this gorgeous route, it's a lot of fun.

Now that was one heck of an interesting video - mucho thanks. One a tank loco too.

On the lighter side I wonder what was in those two wagons that was so heavy it required 5 locos. Neutronium perhaps (ala SF movies and books). :hehe:

Very well. I wound up stopping at Tan-Y-Bwlch due to reasons of time, but Prince easily kept up with speed limits in all but a couple places.

Hi Onestone
Greetings from Indonesian , Where i can get that Steam Locomotive ? Thank's Before :D

Hello @ ASM1995 - Important Addition: several narrow gauge locomotives, for example, the great U 46 901/902 and the great U 57 can be found at
www. trainzkatalog. websnado. cz - Menu, submenu - Uzkorozchodne lokomotivy (Uzkorozchodne = narrow gauge). Vagony = wagons. It may be necessary to Register.
Have fun.

You're absolutely right. I do remember that the whistle code to call up the guard was a cock crow in Victoria. Can't do that on a diesel.
Cheers,
Graeme.

Before and after on the SR&RL

81296

This was only about 2 or 3 hours of work, mostly bulk asset replacement. A very long way to go to bring it up to TANE standards.

Uh Norm that 4-4-0 engine in the last photo has no tender.... Nice shots. I wish that route could be updated and re-upload to the DLS because it was my favorite route to run the SR&RL and any other 2 foot gauge American engines I had.

I too have noticed that with the fruit tress. I guess the must be very popular type of tree there Norm.

Hello Onestone,

What gauge of NG are those loco's, eg; 760mm - 1000mm - 3ft (36in) - 3ft 6in (42in) please???

Cheers, Mac...

Common gauges are as follows(in ft/in, in, mm)
1ft 11 5/8 in, 23 5/8 in, 597mm
2ft, 24in, 600mm
2ft 6in, 30in, 760mm
3ft, 36in, 914mm (Sweden uses 891mm which is something like 34")
3ft 3in, 39in, 1000mm
3ft 6in, 42in, 1067mm
4ft 8.5in, 56.5in, 1435mm
5ft 3in, 63in, 1600mm
7ft 1/4in is not usually put in metric.
