Naming tracks and locations

Slave to my route
This is embarrassing but I have to ask for help from the route builders, again:o . I have completed the double main line from Levi to Beattyville as the first phase of my route. I am now adding coal mines and sidings but I don't know how to put names on the sidings or the businesses?

You can add a trackmark to the sidings, or add a nameable board. Type a name on it, and shove it under the ground under the object you want to mark.

Hope this helps!

I guess what I'm saying is when I open a few routes there is the navigate to command in the driver menu. So using the track marker will tell the AI to drive the train to this point? Also does it matter what direction the pointer is facing? And last how do I name a business for the AI to navigate to?

Thanks for the help.

I do not think that the track marker direction matters, but I know that the AI driver can drive via or to a trackmark via the Drive To Trackmark or Drive Via Trackmark commands.

If the business is industry enabled, you can re-name it by going to the Scenery tab, clicking the "?" and clicking on the industry. Then you type a name in the top box. You can either use a trackmark or set it to "Drive to Industry 'Coal Mine 1' (example)" then load or unload.

If it is not industry enabled, then you can just use a trackmark. The industry enabled paragraph also applies for Multiple Industry and LARS.

Hope this helps!

Cappy.

Dave,

If you're just looking for a place on the map, add names to industry buildings even if they are not industry-active. I do this all the time with junction towers, houses, etc., so I know where I am, and can quickly jump to a location using the find command in Surveyor.
