N.Z. Johnsonville Line

Hey look! There I am in the second car, off to my viola lesson at Ngaio. :hehe:

It's really shaping up nicely. How did you do the geography? It's very close to the real thing. You gonna put up the mast at Kaukau?

Cheers

Nix

Hi Nix, the terrain is all hand formed, as I don't have access to N.Z. DEM data. I have tried placing the Mt. Kau Kau transmitter above Broadmeadows, but it just does not show in the sim due to camera limitations. It is approx. 1.5 kms from the railway line and my sim modelling "policy" is if any object is more than 300m from the railway line on either side and cannot be seen, then don't put it in - just a waste of poly's and computer resources.
Cheers, Trev.:)

Awesome! Now all we need is for someone to do the Commuter lines in Auckland. The Ed's and Ew's are electrics but in real life they've been retired. Here's something you may not know. The EF's are very similar to the British class 85/86's (but that's just my opinion)

Hi Traizguy1160, thanks for the info. Hi cvkiwi, I am surprised at how many Kiwi's are Trainzers on this forum. I too am an ex-Wellintonian/Hutt Valley-ite and now living in The Garden city. The only stations I recall for sure are Johnsonville and Simla Cresent, the rest is a hazy blur - thank God for Google Earth! Regards the route E.T.A. , I will be posting an announcement when it is complete. Watch this space! Good luck with the Coast route - which coast?
Cheers, Trev. :)

Hi Fender849,

This route looks awsome. This is the first time I have seen this post. I am from Upper Hutt so if you need pics of something send me a PM and I will do my best to get them for you.

Cheers,
Bill69

Another kiwi Trainzer! Thanks for the offer Bill69 - I will keep in mind. BTW, I like your signature, reminds me of KUJU!
Cheers, Trev. :D

Ngauranga, circa 1960. The B.P. service station was there up until the new motorway developement, when it was demolished and a new B.P. station was sited a bit further North, between this point and Horokiwi. I can recall this road intersection was the scene of many road "accidents", mostly to do with brake fade after descending the Ngauranga gorge S.H.1.
This view looking West up towards the gorge. In the lower forground is the double-tracked Hutt Valley line. The 3.10p.m. to Upper Hutt is just departing Ngauranga station.

This view from S.H.1 Ngauranga gorge looking East to the harbour. The 5.00p.m. to Porirua crosses the double-tracked bridge between Tawa tunnels No.1 and No.2.

Yes that would've been those rough kids in 4g going home. :hehe:

Hey I remember the intersection that way and the old petrol station. For the school hols I used to catch the train up to Palmy North and stay with my brother. Never saw the old Palmy North station though; that had been changed ages before I used to travel up there. None of those woossy Ganz-Mavag units in those days either; it was all the old original English Electric boneshakers, with the ocasional Ed or Ew hauled carriage train. Hah! Them were the days! :p

Cheers

Nix

Great job on the layout its brilliant and that theres more nz contentcomming up.
I do alot of cab riding around the south island, and to see parts of nz being reproduced in this manner its, BRILLIANT.
Keep the good work up.

Thanks for the comments Nix and Yelloweyedpenguin. Always encouraging to get the feedback. The next update shouldn't be too far away - I can see more light nearing the end of the tunnel.
Chhers, Trev. :)

Johnsonville line

Hi fender849,
The route is looking really great. I live in the Hutt Valley, so please let me know if I (or Bill69) can help out in any way with photo's of the area, etc.
(bill69 also lives in the HV)
Spoke to him in person (bill69) this morning & he seem's a nice helpful chap.
Cheers, Mac.

Thanks Rugrat, I agree - a good site which I shall make use of towards the end of the build, placing signals. Cheers Bill69, I have now placed all the tunnels! Mac, I appreciate your offer. I wiil holler out if I get stuck. Ish, there's more of that to come! Now here is a sneak look at the Belmont Viaduct. For those of you who know this area, the blue road to the East of the motorway is Mark avenue, Paparangi.
