Mysterious Stop?

After a 1 hour run, with stops, to the station, in the background, a "Run Around" was issued and completed to this point. The objective is to complete the "Run Around" by coupling to the cars in the distance near the station. But, the engine arrived at the red signal (passed thru earlier) and stopped. After 30 minutes I suspected that something might be wrong - but what? The track and signal were transited to get the train to the station so a faulty signal or track was not evident.......

The red light is protecting the occupied track beyond the signal, if it was anything other than red another train would be allowed to pass the signal and could crash into the stationary rolling stock. The locomotive has stopped at a red light as it should, Trainz AI appears to be working OK. I am of cause assuming that when the train passed the signal earlier it was at something other than red. I do not believe that the Run Around Train command is sufficiently comprehensive to appreciate the need at time to pass a red signal to complete its task hence the needs when implemented the Run Around Train command to avoid where possible such signal configurations. That said I believe there is a command to override and passing such a red signal, which at the moment I cannot recall. I personally prefer to use ground shunting signal to control effectively what is a shunting process. Peter

The 'Run Around Train' command will drive through a red signal if that's what's required to couple to the other end.

I agree it should unfortunately too often AI has other ideas which could well be the issue Dick has. As with quite a few things under the control of AI it doesn't always happen and unless issues can be regularly reproduced so N3V has a viable chance to fix them its a case of self help. With the Run Around Train command frequently the repositioning of a signal perhaps in conjunction with the points which facilitate the locomotive gaining access to the other end of the train is enough to overcome the issue. Yes, the Run Around must be able to violate a Red signal since it is just a common coupling at that time.

I added a drive to trackmark a short distance away but before the Run Around command. Now the Run Around works. Chances are the Run Around is simply using already coded coupling code once it is positioned relative to the target car. Oh well, it works now.
