My games keep hacking

I’m back on both Trainz 2019 and 2022 after three full months of absence, but every time I try to play as any locomotive, something always hacks the games, causing them to stop. I don’t know how to make the hacking stop. Can someone help?

hacks the games
Interesting description.

Since there is very little in your post that I can go on, lets start with the basics.

How do you get the selected locomotive moving?

Are you using the Speed Dial control?

The Driver controls?

or the AI control?

When you switch from one to the other, by clicking on the vertical dots on the right of each image, it will immediately slam on the brakes and bring the loco to a halt.

Hmm. Crashing and freezing are much more useful terms than hacked. I was ready to share a fake news release from the US National Security Administration that claims to have uncovered a million dollar plot by foriegn infiltrators to hack your computer! So much for that idea ...

Most of us users are having no more than our usual problems with TRS19 and 22. So we need to figure out why you are experiencing crashing and freezing.

Were you able to run the programs successfully before? If so, what has changed on your sytem since then? How much memory and diskspace to you have? What graphics card do you have? [edit #2:] What operating system are you using?

When you start the program can you get into Content Manager to do a Quick Database Repair? Crashing and freezing can damage the internal database Trainz uses. Enough of that damage may lead to more crashing and freezing.

It has also been pointed out that nearly faulty assets and scripts can negatively affect how well Trainz runs. Sometimes users can figure out what assets they recently added to Trainz.

[edit #1:] If you are having the same problem with two versions of Trainz, that suggests it could be a system hardware or resource problem.

The build number of Trainz 2022 is 132316.
That is the latest version - Retail TRS22 SP6 HF1/ TRS22 PE (Steam Windows).

Is it just TRS22 that is crashing/freezing? or both TRS19 and TRS22?

If both have the problem then it could be a system (Windows/Steam) or a hardware problem.

  • If it is just TRS22, and is happening on all the routes you run, then I would try the following actions.
    1. Try, as @OddRails suggest, a DBR (Database Repair) - if you do not know how to do this then the instructions can be found on the Trainz Wiki at How_to_Perform_Database_Repairs. If that does not work then an Extended DBR (details on the same Wiki page) could be performed but this is much more drastic and can lead to other problems.
    2. If that fails then a complete reinstall may be necessary. I do not have the Steam version so I cannot help you there.
  • If it is just the one route then there may be something wrong with just that route. Use Content Manager to check or any errors in that route - see the Trainz Wiki at Understand_Content_Manager_Status_Labels
