My First Try at a Model

Yes. Very tricky and difficult to understand.
Then tell me what you don't understand and I'll expand the tutorials. Unfortunately not being a mind reader I can't figure out where you are having problems. It's not going to be possible to describe every mouse click though as this would make the tutorials twice as big. I assume that if I have described a procedure once then the next time you need it you'll remember what you did the first time. Part 7 in particular gets quite sketchy in places as you are repeatedly doing the same things.

There is a way to make things a bit easier by writing scripts to automate certain actions. For example once a few points, dummies and bones have been created (about 10 minutes) you can animate both sides of outside valve gear in 20 seconds. It will also be possible to automate the creation of wheelsets of any size and number of spokes and animate the coupling rods by using a script.

You are still better off doing things yourself though (at least a few times) to understand what is going on.

Well, got no use for Sketchup now. There was a really nice house I once made from an MSFS Gmax (And I didn't make a mistake with that, I'm taking an entirly different simulation topic) tutorial I'd like to post, but lost it due to re-install of Gmax.:(

Thanks guys!

Yea i gotta agree, learning gmax is much more rewarding, because when sketchup is imported into gmax, its all one model, have fun reducing polys and texturing it, even I wouldnt try that.

Quick question: Where do you find screenshots from SketchUp that you have taken, on the computer (folder etc)?

Andrew

print screen just copys whats on teh screen, after you press Prt Scr, open up paint, then use the "select" tool and press Ctrl + V (both of those at the same time) and that will copy it onto the screen.
