My confusion between session update and driver session

I tend to spend more time building a layout than actually driving. Could some kind person please explain why, when I update driver commands with a vehicle, driver name and whether A1 and then instructions for calling at stations etc, this does not appear in driver session and driver’s name is completely different. I then have to repeat the instructions.

Are you opening the route or session for edit in the surveyor? It's possible that the instructions are saved in the session and opening the route will not restore the session info. The driver name might change if in the driver set up you have the replace driver box ticked.

Thank you for reply, I open the session for edit in surveyor and then save before going into the quick drive, and after a while of organising trains in driver I then save if semi successful !! , before returning to surveyor. I’ll check that ‘replace driver box’ but I have a feeling that I have unticked that box if that’s the one in the driver commands. I’m sure it’s something simple but it keeps my 74 year old brain active. There’s always something to learn in this ‘game’ .

After driving, try going back to Surveyor, moving one little wagon, then save from the Surveyor.

I agree. I never save in Driver during the development of a route/session unless I am absolutely certain that the positions of the consists and the state of the rules, etc are exactly where I want them to be.

For example: If I am testing a section of a route (from A to B) I will always exit Driver into Surveyor, make my adjustments in Surveyor, then save (overwrite) the route and I select the option Do not save session before I return to Driver. Once I have finished testing A to B and the consist is now at location B, I then save a New session (give it a new name that includes the name of location B). I then repeat the process with section B to C. and so on. So far this has worked extremely well.

PS: N3V's advice for using the Universal Driver Interface in TRS19 Platinum and Trainz Plus is to always place the consists in a Session Layer, not in a Route Layer.

After re-reading you original post and looking at your timeline where you have TRS19 but not TRS19 Platinium, I have realised that my previous post would probably make no sense to you.

Here is what I believe is happening.

A saved Driver Game (saved while running a Session in Driver mode) is completely independent of a Session saved in Surveyor, except of course that they will have the same starting point. Any changes you make to a Session after you have saved a Driver Game will not appear in that Driver Game when you restart it.
