Multiple Locomotive Bells at once

That one Trainzer
Hi, I was wondering if there's a way to only turn on the bell for one locomotive, (like the lead one) cause when I hit the bell, all locomotives bells come on. Is there any way to have one on and the others off? like in real-life?

Thanks.

Not yet directly. This is something the developers are working on for T:ANE. Some content creators have written scripts to do that. I can't remember who though.

You can edit a config file of all the other locos, and take out the bellsound ... or you can edit the sound file of the other assets and move the bel wav file to a "New Folder" you make, then Trainz can't find it.

Creating a "New Folder" is a great way to edit an asset, and hide things from Trainz, because you can copy the assets config file and place the copy in the "New Folder" should you ever want to revert it back to normal.

I just stop ringing that damn annoying bell after the first loco passes !

In some recent RRmods releases, provided you stay in cab mode, you can ring only the bell on the lead unit by clicking on the "bell" button on the control stand, then clicking again to shut it off. This plays a bell sound that is only heard in the cab. It is a great alternative to 5 bells at once, provided you stay in the cab.

Another suggestion might be to edit the config files of trailing locomotives so that they have the same bell as the lead unit, so they will all at least be the same, but that may take some realism away from it, if all your locomotives have the same bell.

I once had the idea to try cascaderailroad's method after cloning certain loco's to use as trailing units... whereby you would make a clone of a certain locomotive, add "Trail" to the end of its file name, and remove the bell sound. So you have that loco as a lead with bell or trail with no bell. I haven't tried it yet, though. Might accomplish what you're looking for, but your locomotive roster would grow very quickly

I could swear that starting with build 3.8 (T2 for MAC) that this problem was behind us. I just tried it in TANE only the lead unit bell rings...

Good deal. :) Maybe this has been fixed once and for all as this was discussed about a month ago in the Trainz Dev forum after Chris put out some design docs for us to read and comment on.
