Multiplayer question

Hi all,

I've just got my version of trainz 2012 and i am really excited to get it on my machine, but while that is happening i have a question. I see that there are specific multiplayer maps that people talk about, but is it be possible to play multiplayer on other maps too? And would it be hard to create my own map for multiplayer use?

Before you worry about multiplayer maps, patch your version to 49922 first.

There are requirements for a map/route/session to be multiplayer compatible.

Firstly, the content used on it (route and session) cannot be from sites other than the Download Station, although built-in content can also be used on a multiplayer map.

Secondly, both the route and the multiplayer session must be uploaded to the Download Station in order to use it (this is once the Multiplayer Rule has been added to the session)

Routes (thats what we call maps) do not make something multiplayer (MP) or not; it is the session that desides that. But what you noticed is also in a way right though: Some routes are adjusted or specificly made to suite MP beter.

It is relatively easy to make a MP session, but if you just started MP I can strongly advice you to not bother with that yet.
Most common or populair routes already have MP sessions made for them. Just set a filter in Content Manager on "category = session" and "name = multiplayer". Next to that it also takes a few days between you finishing the creation of your MP session and being able to play it like that due to having to upload it and becoming available.

Start with what is there and slowly take it from there .
