Hello all,

I did some searching for some good sound files for steam locos (Mostly 4-8-4's and Big Boy). Fortunately I found them but my problem is I have no idea how to convert them to work in TRS 2006. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, MSTS has good steam sounds...TRS06 doesn't. I was able to convert all of them over with no problems....I was so happy...then I woke up...

You will need to obtain a copy of the CCG (Content Creation Guide), and read the section on sounds. In this case enginesounds. If they have the matching sound speeds (as in the speed at which the 'loco' is going in the sound), then you should be ok.
Next, you will need to create the appropriate config.txt. Now you need to convert the sounds to the correct format of wav file (found in the CCG), and then name them correctly.

Problem is, I don't think MSTS used the same number of sound files, which would leave you with the need to edit the sounds to give the correct speeds.

There are some fine freeware sound editors available. I dabbled with this aspect of conversion myself a few years ago, but gave up on it.
