Montreal Central Station

Hi everyone,

I have started on a new project for the Montreal Central station and some of the route to the east of it. I have done some of the track route up to a few km's past the St Laurent bridge (victoria I beleive). I have also started creating the building for the station itself pictured below with the pic of the actual building behind it. Thought I would share this with yall and will be posting my progress as it goes along...

I am impressed, it looks great! I assume you are just using generic buildings? or are you creating your own

Thanks!

Surrounding buildings will probably be generic but the station itself I am building in GMax myself so what you see is the initial stages!

Hmmm, I'm going to be following your project with interest. By the way, do you have the track plan of the station? I once saw a copy posted on someone's website. I would have to dig a bit to locate it again. Did you know that PVM, which is built on top of the tracks is on the DLS?
:mop:

It would be great if you could find the track plan... let me know if you do.

Also I wasn't aware about the PVM, what is it named under?

I've had the pleasure of visiting this station several times and am really looking forward to this! Good luck! :)

Hopefully I will be able to replicate the platform part well enough : )

If anyone has pictures of the area and are willing to share them please let me know as it would definitely help!

Thanks!

Some of the pictures made on 2005-01-01 during a fan trip on the Two Mountain commuter line.

Thanks for those pics. These are great! I also took a look at the track plan and it appears that there are lots of tracks under there, more than I thought! Well I'll try to make it as good as I can I guess : ), are there any other resources where I could get some kind of dimensions on this underground complex? Appears to be quite long as well...

Im going to focus on the outside of Place Bonaventure first for the entry point first but will need as much info as I can for the inside eventually. I have done some searches online without many results...

Central Station

I look forward to seeing your project. Central Station in Montreal is one of my favourite stations. I remember watching movies at the Theatre in Place Bonaventure which was over the tracks. We could actually feel and hear the trains going by. I hope to one day model this station in n scale. Good luck.

thanks! i've actually not been working on this too much of late since hunting season is upon us. im spending most of my computer time playing hunting unlimited 2009 but will probably resume in a month or two... :)

I'm liking what I see.

Is this the terminal Canadian National used?

If so, it would be great to see some vintage CNR stuff on those tracks...

Yes, CN and today VIA plus local commuter traffic.

Indeed, Both CN and CP gave up Passenger/Commuter Operations to VIA Rail Canada in the 70's...

The Montreal station get 2 roads:

VIA Rail Canada
Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT)

At one point, even GO trains ran there for a short while (if I recall, an overpass over a key highway had collapsed and usage on the train system was equivalent to over 120% or so, so the folks in the GTA leant a few sets to help out).

It's always good to have an excuse to run other rolling stock somewhere! :hehe:

Nice pictures of the station too BTW. I looked all over the internet trying to find some when I was tinkering around on another route a long time ago but could not find anything...

Yeah it was in a suburb called Laval. An overpass collapsed and the GO Transit sent a 12-car F59 trainset to Montreal to compensate for the blocked bridge. AMT only uses 6 cars I believe..
