Montana Rail Link MP V2 OP-Session's (This aint your daddy's circle burning)

I find your post both informative and, at the same time, interesting GN. I could not understand why I was,t able to regain control of my train. I,ll have to bear that in mind in future. Now I,m going to check out some more industries that may need the JIb touch, lol. EDIT. I have investigated the Industries further and found the following. If you look at Loomex Woodchip Mill, it is set up to consume a small amount of woodchips which I consider to be reasonable. So that would make it a kind of role model for any other industry that consumes a commodity in tonnes that you want to produce or consume slowly. Rosco Scrap needs adjusting to bring it up to the same standard as Loomex. The amounts are way too low at the moment. Also is it neccessary to have it consume LPG in order to produce scrap? Could not the LPG be removed?. I checked, adjusted and tested the Auto plant in Billings and found the following. Despite several attempts I could not get it to load cars. Nor could I work out why. My own view is it handles too many products which just makes it more complicated. I also noticed the amounts for diesel fuel are also too low and I feel could be removed entirely. In Line with what GN posted the automobile engines has no queue (should be queue 4). I also have a "staff sugestion" As it stands at the moment the car loader track is next to the ramp which is where it should be. The downside is it will take quite a while to load a train of cars. Could you add another couple of MIN,s so that more cars can be loaded at the same time? I don,t know how that will tie in with the other MIN,s as they are linked together although they are not working properly at the moment so possibly the link could be removed. I,ll leave that one with you Jib. And finally thanks for what you have done to fix the industries so far, I,ll try and find some more that need fixing. By the way the Industry that loads plastic Granular in Bozeman works really well to name but one. Now I,m going to suffer withdrawal symptoms as, once again, Ichat and multiplayer are not working.

Thanks colour, I'm glad to hear that. Hopefully Jib didn't put too much work into changing Smeed and Son, otherwise he might go crazy learning that the fix was that simple, lol.

I had all ready rebuilt Smeed & Son steel, but I made the few other changes. Next update will include changes to most of the industries. I just wanted to real quickly get those major things changed and fixed. V2.8 has been sent to the DLS. I added a few more cars and some interesting Easter eggs that you might like GN1996.

Great, I haven't even found all of the other Easter eggs that were already in there. That means even more work! Lol. I look forward to the update and seeing what those cars are that you added.

Version 2.8 already! Thats nice to hear. I,m looking forward to it. Pity I,m on a lousy shift until tuesday so not much Trainz time. Still, keep up the good work Jib.

Version 2.8 appeared on the DLS a few moments ago and I have just started a session. Due to my shift pattern I won,t be able to play much so you are mostly on your own. There are two rules in my session. Rule 1. Do not Derail. Rule 2. Do not derail. OK, now I,ve had my little joke I,m going to join the session.

MRL'ers did you know that MRL is one of the few railroads that still require a caboose on each freight train?

Thanks for the speedy update JIb228!

Sadly I found one problem, well off the mainline though so you can add it to your list for the next upgrade. Livingston yard

So what is the problem with Livingston Yard? Normhart. Back to my session. I have prepared two coal trains for departure, one in Livingston Yard which supplies Montana Power & Light Power Station in Billings and the other is at the Flood Loader in the Open Cast Coal mine near Logan and supplies the Power Station in Bozeman. It is important to deal with these trains first as the Industries shut down without power. The two Power stations supply different Industries and these are listed in the Power Station Rules in Surveyor, Sessions. I don,t make it a rule that your train must have a caboose but I prefer it and the vast majority of trains I prepare have a caboose. I,m typing this at work so please don,t tell Network Rail, lol. I will be playing around 10.30-11pm UK time.

I have found a few other bugs that need intimidate attention Norm, and Ill have them and that fixed ASAP.

And that is a handy tidbit of information, see as I say every one should have a caboose. As I see it, a cut of cars WITH a caboose means its some one else train, don't mess with it. A cut of cars with out a caboose is one that is free to use by any one.

The one issue I cant wrap my head around is why in both installs of TRS12 I can see all the locomotive if I host a session, but when I join Colour's game I see that several driver's locomotives are MIA.

What you fond there Norm is one of the bits of content that I placed on the session layer by accident. I have been hunting them all down and setting them to the right layer, but its a chore and a half. I suggest if you want to build your own session(s), start with mine as a base session, so as not to lose tracks like that.

Seeing as I wont be adding any thing new, there will not be a 2.9 update, you'll just have to re-download 2.8 in a few days. But before I do I must ask:

Leave the Jointed Rail track that every one uses?

Or replace with this?

Thanks JIb228! I'll take your advise and try your Session as a base. I am far more interested in running Northern Pacific over this trackage than modern stuff and I am not interested in MP at all.

Things like this; NP 4022 (a NP Z-3) gives the morning Seattle to Chicago passenger a hand over Boseman Pass. She'll turn around at Livingston and pickup a string of empties and run them up to Helena.

(FWIIW I favor the new track, as you say everyone uses the JR track)

I love for the new track to add in montana session.

If you are going to use this for the big "Fall Update" then go ahead and make the change but if it's just for this update then leave it be... Lets make sure the things are fixed and working correctly first before laying new track.

I hope one of the things your fixing is the faulty item unless I'm the only one that is having trouble with it. Sure enjoy the route in MP when its up. I like the current track myself if were voting.

Faulty: Grade Xing Unprotected 2L 1T

@ FSBrown Im not seeing that grade crossing as faulty, in ether version of TRS. I suspect its an issue on your end.

@ Shadow Duly noted. Its just a matter of using the replace asset tool to change the track. But then there is the whole re-ballasting every thing.

@ Normhart Glad your liking it. Nice to see the route being used for some thing more then just MP. But I feel it really shines when in MP. But to each his own.

As for the fall update, I'm thinking of scaling it back and just do progressive updates where I add a little bit more each time. I happen to be starting a new project and have one person on bored all ready. I might need a few more people, but I'll see about that as progress is made on my new project. I will say this, it is a brand new route and it will be MP

When I previewed the update, I discovered that some of the ground textures were missing in Great Falls. I'm not sure if this is just on my end or if it does that in everbody else's.

Also, I think the Jointed Rail track is fine, unless it is giving a bunch of people frame rate issues, in which case feel free to replace it. I for one do not have frame rate issues with it.

EDIT
Jib, I saw the download list and proceeded to hit my head repeatedly on the desk. Not only did I have a headache, I was left with a broken desk. Lol, I didn't actually hit my head on the desk or break it, but I did sigh very loudly. That was a very cruel trick you played.

I said I was placing in a few Easter eggs.

I have watched MLP purely from an analytical point a view. I wanted to see why people liked it so much. And I kinda like the show enough to find it amusing to have these added. That and my girlfriend thought it would be fun to add them. They are well hidden though, so unless you're looking for them, you won't see them.

There are the pony's, an M4 Sherman Tank, an M1A1 tank, and at least 3 hobos hidden on the route.

@ GN1996 The texture issue is one thing I noticed too late and am fixing. They have been fixed and the patch will be uploaded soon. As for the track, I feel the JR track is over used. All most all routes have it and its a bit boring seeing the same thing every where. This track that I tested looks better, at least I think so.

Sorry about the large pic but...

This rail really looks killer under big iron.

Edit: I like its lod draw appearance a lot better than the jointed stuff, too.

Hi Jib I was thinking, maybe I should try and work out why some of my drivers don,t have locomotives. Taking it from you top you downloaded the route from the DLS and all Drivers are assigned to Locomotives when you host a session but when you play my session not all drivers have locomotives? This leads me to ask a couple of questions. Does this apply to everyone else,s session? Could you name a couple of locomotives that are missing from my session? I can only think there is a difference between the locomotives you have and mine although as it is a MP session I don,t really see how that would be possible. Could they be locally modified or out of date or something like that? Again I don,t see how. It,s early days in version 2.8 so I havn,t really got any problems with the Industries. Smeed & Son may possibly be "overcooked" but I hav,nt come to any conclusions yet. A few bare patches here and there, in particular Bozeman and one next to the connection between the main and the Industrial estate where Smeed & Sons is at Billings but I,m not too bothered as it doesn,t affect gameplay. Keep up the good work. I,m now going to restart my session due to a couple of derailments. I found the additional log train at Huntley which was a surprise!

I've been lurking in the bushes for awhile, watching this thread and looking at the route and sessions over for awhile. I jumped into Colour's session for a few minutes yesterday, trying to get a grip on this whole MP thing. Just to clarify for my feeble brain: if I join a session, there should be no drivers in the list that are not in a loco? I think there were quite a few when I dropped in yesterday.
