Montana Rail Link MP V2 OP-Session's (This aint your daddy's circle burning)

In theory all the drivers are allocated to a locomotive or train. However at the start of my session 4 drivers are not allocated. I can remember one is Gus and another is Thomas. As the session progresses that no longer applies as drivers get moved around, taken off locomotives and even made redundant as the locomotive has derailed.

I just spent a few minutes on Colour's session along with GN1996. It seemed like about half of the drivers in my game did not have a loco. GN was in a loco and while his driver appeared in my list, there was no loco assigned. GN reported that he was moving and nothing showed on my game or map. We were in Helena yard and I could see several consists of rolling stock, but no locos anywhere in Helena, and nothing moving. He coupled to some of the rolling stock and moved, but nothing showed as moving on my game. I don't pretend to understand any of this, just throwing out some data that might help someone else figure out a possible problem.

What was your latency icon like? If it was red the whole time, you may have had a connection problem.

I should have a session running right now and
Ii will be joining it around 6pm EST if you want to join me to look at your problem. One explanation is that you were out of sync with the host computer meaning you were unable to see consists in their true position. The solution is to log out of the session, wait a few minutes and rejoin the session.

Hey Jib, I remember you saying somewhere that you were having some locos made for MRL, any chance you could share what type of locos those are? I ask because I am in the process of making an SD70MAC that will be painted for BN. I just need to figure out how to get the model from Google SketchUp to Trainz.

Colour, we tried that last suggestion of yours and that didn't work. I also recall that I could not find some locos one time and we tried the same thing you suggested, but it didn't work that time either.

EDIT
Here is a pic of that MAC:
There is still quite a bit of work to do, but I think I can have it done by Friday depending on how the week goes. Then it is just a matter of exporting it to Trainz.

GN, you'll have to talk to Vincent on TS. He was working on some thing, but I dont remember what. If you do get that into trainz. Looking it though, MRL has SD70aCE's. In case you wanted to paint a few in MRL.

That is an SD70MAC, not an SD70ACe. Even though MRL never had any SD70MAC's, I could paint a couple up anyway.

I know, thats what I was getting at. If you want to, go right a head and Ill include them in the route.

If possible, could you also ether make a few CSX and/or CN or make a blank one that could be reskined?

Back to MRL, Ill take a look at those bare spots when I get home and should have a hot fix sent to the DLS tonight. Should be available by Thursday or Friday.

Oh, ok. I misread that statement. After rereading it a couple more times, it makes more sense. Anyway, I just hope I can get the model into Trainz! I can probably paint a few up for CSX and CN too.

My initial plan was to finish creating the mesh, then repaint for BN and see if I can get it to have ARN, and paint up one in BNSF and give them ARN. Then I will have to see if I can do the same for CSX and CN. Hopefully all goes well.

I looked at it in CM and it showed as faulty, ran missing dependancies and found none, when I checked it for errors if found none and it cleared up the faulty indication. Was obviously something on my end, who knows what it was. Sorry my mistake.

Sometimes working assets become faulty following an EDR. You'll have to go through the verification process to get trouble assets working again. In addition, assets on the DLS may be given the indicator "Location: Unknown" in Content Manager following an EDR. To fix that, you'll have to exit Trainz completely (i.e. wait until TADDaemon.exe finishes its business normally), then launch Trainz again.

I have been hosting version 2.8 updated for around 30 hours and nobody has joined my session yet. 2 people have tried to join that I know of but were unable to progress beyond "Loading Network Data". I am beginning to think there is a problem somewhere. I just checked my session and I cannot see anything wrong, no missing dependencies, no obsolete versions and no locally modified assets. GN1996 did the same checks and he still could not join. The only thing he hasn,t tried is doing an extended database repair and restarting computer. I need a few more people to try and join my session.

I too am unable to join. Before I last left I did note that none of the industries I tried to load at would let me load any thing. Yet I know in the past they have worked and the power plants where running. Have you colour tried to restart your computer?

Nobody has been able to join my session since my computer had a rather nasty crash in the last session. My graphics screwed up, computer then froze and wouldn,t even turn off so I had to turn off the power and I lost my internet for a short while. I,m thinking the session may have been corrupted in some way so I,m going to delete it and download it again. I,m going to work soon so I,ll put a new session up around 10 am Eastern Time which is 3 pm UK time.

Roger colourlight I might come later this week to see how everything is going. If I don't be sure to see me most likely then friday or the weekend for montana.

I found this out yesterday when someone downloaded my route and got the massage that can't join session of dependency not built in or not on DLS,come to find out that they had a lot of stuff Open For Edit.
After commiting them they got in with no problem. So check Open For Edit before closing Content Manager.

I have finally closed my session after 3-4 days. The main reason I closed was that very few people were actually joining it. Several people attempted to join but Trainz crashed on them so I guess we need to find out why and fix it. In one or two cases it may be their computer but I suspect there is more to it than that. My only sugestion is to do an extended database repair and then restart your computer. I think you should also be running Direct X 9 which is and should be downloaded from these forums. Now on to fixes. Not much I,m pleased to say. Only one broken Industry which is Davies Skid Loader in billings. Do we need it to consume Diesel which I don,t think is really neccessary?. But if you do want to keep it it needs to have the queue added which is why it,s broken. And all the other amounts are far too low anyway. Smeed & Sons scrap needs some adjustments on the scrap side as it,s not really working. I understand they are not linked now. That being the case the reference to Smeed & Sons in the industry box ought to be deleted. Likewise all refferences to Steel Coil in the Unloading Track should be deleted. The max amount of scrap is too low and ought to be at least 255,000 which is just over 3 cars. I didn,t check the consumtion rate which may be ok. The Steel Coil Loading track is fine. Conoco Cars needs some adjusting as not enough cars are being produced. I have considered it carefully and I suggest changing the duration from 30 to 60 seconds and doubling the amount to be consumed/produced for all commodities except for the Steel Coil which should be unchanged, which ought to increase the amount of cars being produced overall. A more serious problem at Conoco is the derailments that occur. Cars derail before they reach the end of the sidings and I cannot see any reason for this when I look in surveyor. The only comments I can make are that the End of track Stops are a type I am not familar with and I,m wondering if they have anything to do with it?. The Invis track is also a type I,m not familiar with but I,m less likely to suspect that is the cause. Billings Int I wish to make the following comment. I havn,t yet tried unloading trailers which remained empty so it wasn,t producing containers or consuming General Goods, so apart from loading containers that were there at the beginning of the session it remains untested. Also because I was playing on my own for nearly all of the time I spent most of my time working in Billings so I couldn,t try any of the Industries at other locations although I know some of them definately work ok. Other problems which do not affect gameplay. Broken track point switch 5052 for Billing Autoparts which is rather disconcerting to watch trains pass over but does not derail them. There is also a nearby foot crossing which would be better placed in a theme park! It would make a great Roller Coaster, lol. Track could do with re aligning in a few places but I,m not going to bother with that. Rolling Stock... As I mentioned, Jib we need another rake of Trailer cars and a few more Reefers for Meat (frosen) pallet. Just out of interest is that how you spell Frozen in the USA? We spell it with a Z and not a S. Just curious. I would also like to see more locomotives as insurance against derailments. In particular two sets of Conrail Locomotives would be nice (one driverless Unit between two Cab units) as I use them for the Billings Coal train. Maybe another rake of coal cars for the same reason given their importance in the session so we would then have two spare sets. I think thats about it except I feel the speed limits are generally too low. What I really want to see is the abolition of the 10 mph limits at the exits to Laurel and Livingston Locomotive depots and the Yard in Laurel as it takes forever to get anywhere. How about 20 mph instead? I don,t know if there are any in Helena.

Ill take a more in depth look at Conoco. And Ill see about tweaking the other things you mentioned. But Im kinda bummed out that you shut it down, not that I was active in the session. But that's because, as I have said many times, I work nearly 50 hours a week. The one day I do get off a week happens to be Friday and I tend to go out that day to just relax and enjoy the nice weather. As for the misspelling of frozen, thats on the person who made that asset, not I.

Which brings me to my next point of interest. MP in general might be dead for the next month or so, what with it being the end of summer and people going on vacation's and what not. Add to it that last I heard Shadow was dealing with some personal issues, and my working all most every day. That there takes out 2 of your regular joiners Colour.

Lastly, I have said it time and time again, MRL is a fantastic route, but before we can pull in more people, it wont shine. What we need to do is get the word out there more, try and pull people in to our session just to see what MP is all about. Or we need a route that is over 20 miles long and under 50 miles long.
